So here's things...

~ Have started a new book (well, started it last week, but that's neither here nor there). If you couldn't tell from the subject line, it's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. And I'm absolutely loving it! I'm not quite halfway through it yet (doing stuff for French class takes up a lot of free time). It was mostly the premise and cover that caught my attention since I've never read the original (not really a big Jane Austen fan), and I'm very satisfied by what I'm getting from it. The one downside is it makes me want to slaughter some zombies myself in L4D2, but I can't do that until Smurf gets a hold of all the stuff to upgrade Lord Danny so the game is actually...ya know...playable on him! Otherwise, the book is fantastic.

~ HOE-MG, how much do I love Gibbs and Tony?!?! Like for seriously, they are just amazing. It was that very Jack/Daniel familiarness about them that made me fall in love with the show to begin with and that's what we got in tonight's episode. *sigh* Such love for them, Tony/Ziva, and the show as a whole! Sad there's no new episode next week (but also glad that SYTYCD is over right now so I can watch the episodes when they premiere).

~ I really hope the NHL big wigs don't frell up and do what's right in the whole Burrows debacle that came out of last night's game. I'm not going to get into much detail about it here, but lets just say HOPEFULLY the bad ref calls that have been going on for some time now will be taken care of. Last night it was just beyond ridiculous. If anyone is interested on reading up on what I'm talking about, you can find three different posts about it HERE, HERE, and HERE. I'm taking the side of Burrows, of course. Biased as a Canucks fan aside, fans and those connected to the NHL all over have (for the most part) been siding the same. When even the broadcasters for the WINNING TEAM (b/c the Canucks did NOT win the game last night - mostly because of those BAD calls) say it was the worst refereed game they had seen, you know something hinky is going on. So the NHL is deciding on it now. We'll see how it goes.

Alrighty, I have a little bit of French work to get done. *sigh* Back to the school-time grind. ;P

P.S.: You know it's bad when I, with the house I live in, can't concentrate on what I'm trying to post because a roommate is being SO FUCKING LOUD! My door was already closed so I couldn't just slam my door or something like that. I had to put my headphones on and turn on music - ridiculous.

P.S. (squared): *points to song* SUCH a DV song! That is all.

Just a few things...

- Am back at school. It doesn't suck so much coming back to Ragans and my own room as it did heading back to Kellum the past to years to a shared room. I still wish I didn't have to be here, though. Think it's ridiculous to have to come back for two weeks. They should just start the semester two weeks earlier in August, and let us have off from Turkey Day until New Year's.

- Was going to post these thoughts before the twit-post came up, but I was reading about MLK, Malcolm X, and The Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s. I have my third in-class essay tomorrow on this topic (though idk why I'm putting so much hard work into it - the woman is one of the harshest graders I've come across. Got a B- on the last essay...ME, a B-! WTF is that??). I wanted to get a good portion of the way through it tonight. I have like 105 pages to go. SHOULD be able to get it knocked out before the class tomorrow. Either way, I think I've built up enough knowledge on the subject to give another better than B- essay. I just have such a problem reading non-fiction (yes, issue for a history major), especially when it's not reading selected by choice.

- My "good" knee has been hurting a lot lately. I say "good" b/c this was supposedly the one that DIDN'T sustain any kind of damage when I got hit by the car way back when. And yet, I get more problems from it on a regular basis than I do from the 'bad' one. Maybe sleeping in a bed for more than 4 hours tonight will help. I hope it does. Walking to class with a knee in pain is never a fun thing.

That's all I've got for now...off to watch more funny L4D vids on the Youtubez!

~Pip

P.S. - I'm exhausted...thus the prerequisite post-road trip exhaustion icon comes out.

dannysgirlsg1: (Nucks - VanCan)
Got to watch Between Two Fires tonight. It's the first SG-1 ep SyFail has shown in the normal slot since September. So that was very pleasing, especially since it's such a great Jack/Daniel episode.

But that happy YAY feeling is gone now...In a horrible mood, and it doesn't help that this game is terrible tonight. Nucks are only down 1, but still...there is NO offense tonight. They've spent almost all night in their OWN zone. So being down 1 is actually pretty grim. They still have time - they just need to pick it up the 3rd period.

I started the 'His Dark Materials' series for my Religion class. Now halfway through The Golden Compass. My goal is to finish it by the end of this weekend and hopefully get The Amber Spyglass started. I don't have a lot of time until I have to do the paper for this one, so I want to get as much textual evidence as possible. What's helping me get through it so fast is that I'm liking it very much (and that it reads a lot like LOtR, IMHO).

And yep...that's about it.

OH, and

So I need to catch up on my reading since that ended up not happening last night, but I figured I'd post a little bit before I settled into that.

Just got back from seeing Pocahontas at the SLC (it was gonna be The Little Mermaid, but they changed it to Pocahontas last minute. Didn't matter - it was a Disney movie on the big screen). Enjoyed it, of course. I remember seeing it in theaters when it first came out. And even now, I still got goosebumps watching it. They really don't make movies like that anymore (which is why I'm so excited for The Princess and the Frog! XD). I was thrown when Savages P.1 came around because the soundtrack version of the song is DEFINITELY different then the movie version. Clearly some MAJOR changes went into it btwn the OST and when it was released. The OST version is definitely more hardcore than the theatrical version. Guess they were forced to change it. And honestly, I still don't see how it can give kids the wrong impression b/c even just watching it now I KNEW both sides were wrong for judging and all that stuff. Knew it back then, too. But we won't get into the politics of Disney and their movies. LOL.

I missed my math recitation today. I didn't want to, but it was pouring down rain and I can't risk getting sicker than I already am this close to Dragon*Con. It was a quiz, but if I'm remembering correctly they drop the lowest quiz grade so it shouldn't affect me too much. Thank god next Monday is a holiday. Otherwise I'd be missing two recitations in a row - not good.

Sickness wise, things are looking up already. I had some sleepy time tea last night, along with some Echinacea and Nyquil, to help me get a good night's sleep and fight off this ickyness. Woke up feeling bleh, but after some more vitamins and drinking a lot of water, I've started to feel better. Will repeat last night's before bed regimen tonight. Hopefully that will knock out this cold or whatever for good. I did buy some Dayquil today just in case, and plan to have it with me when I go to D*C. I REFUSE to let ickyness get me down!

Alrighty, I really need to settle in to this reading and get it knocked out.

Watched Bane today. Pleasant surprise b/c I couldn't remember which ep was gonna be on (even though I have them written down...which reminds me - I need to go and get July's ep schedule. That will be on the list of things to do tomorrow!).

Well, I'm not really sure how I feel about posting right now. I had opened started this entry to just say a few things, but suddenly have gotten the urge to post more...I think. IDK...I've been putting a lot of effort and thought into posting every day, and it seems no one cares about the personal posts (despite what that poll's results said). Or maybe everyone has been too busy to comment? Idk. Either way, it's bugging me. Not saying it's anyone's fault... I'll just start posting for myself again and not caring about the content I post. *shrugs*

Anywho, what I wanted to say was got Burn Notice S.2 today (of course!). Of course Madre wanted to get the house cleaned really good today since we're leaving for Florida in less than a week now (and OMG, I can't believe it's less than a week to go already! Feels like just yesterday I was still at school w/ Madre telling me they were THINKING about going to FL for vacay!). And I finally had the time (and an empty house!) to do my hair, so that all got done. Which means Burn Notice Special Features watching didn't. And right now I'm feeling to bleh mentally to enjoy it. It's on tomorrow's to-do list, for sure!

The other big happening of today was went to Sam's to see about getting Lord Danny all better. Turns out that the warranty had never been activated for him, but that's b/c the chick that we checked out with when getting Lord Danny forgot to mention I had to CALL and get it activated. But Smurfinator worked his magic and they are letting use it this one time - they are going to take care of Lord Danny and have the info off my hard drive retrieved. And from what I understood, it'll all be free. So the news is FINALLY starting to look up repair AND money wise!

We were discussing tattoos on the twitterwebz yesterday, and I realized I can maybe get my next one while on vacay. I mean, I got the first one while visiting S. FL for the Chili Cookoff. Discussed it with Madre (who now, after some explaining and clarifying, isn't so againt me getting these next few tats), and maybe I can get Trey to take me to get it. Madre can't stop me from getting them, but she flat out REFUSES to take me! *sigh* I can't decide, though, which I want more. Maybe both? I don't think I can afford that, but I'll see how everything goes.

I was good today - read more of the Burn Notice novel on a whim...Just picked up and the book and started reading while waiting for Smurfinator to leave. Who's proud??

Want to post pics of the new hair look (went more pink than I've done in a long time!), but Madre's laptop just won't read any camera card and idk where the USB cords are for the cameras themselves (and too tired to look). There are some crappy pics in the twitpost, but I promise tomorrow I WILL do better and get ACTUAL pics up (of my room and the jersey too!) for all to see!

And I think that's all I've got for now.

Wow, I posted a lot for not really wanting to post in the first place! *snirk*

~Pip

P.S. - I'm SURE I have (uncounted) Fund money missing! Not cool!

P.S. (squared) - Also not cool is still having to buy Amanda's Photo Op ticket! I have a feeling I'll have no spending money while there! *pouts*

To start, being sick really fucking blows and I want my head to feel NORMAL again. (Wow, that statement didn't sound the LEAST bit sexual! *SNIRK*)

Some random bursts of thoughts that I felt needed to be posted:

Thanks for all the feedback on the new header/layout. Rommie seems to be a big flist favorite! This is the first header I've made/used in a while that I really like every bit of, so I'm glad you all like it too!

Red Wings beat the Blackhawks and have advanced onto the Stanley Cup finals! XD This pleases me! (Though, of course, still wish it was the Canucks going...it was fun to have something truly invested in a team!)

I've been lax in my reading...so horrible of me. Maybe tomorrow I'll get some substantial reading done since Netflix frelled up and I won't be getting my next Andromeda disk for another couple of days. So it's either read or sleep...depends on how shitty I feel.

The Photo Op ticket purchasing plan has been revised, and getting the ticket for Amanda's Photo Op has been pushed back since I had to go and buy ANOTHER Michael one. Like I wasn't gonna do BOTH the scruffy and suave options - PFFT! Now with that happening, the Gary Jones photo op ticket might not be in the cards for me. I mean, I'm sure I'll get the money, but you never know if I'll have to pull another 'dash and buy' autograph ticket performance this year too. I like to have my options open, after all.

I've never mentioned it before, but it's SO WEIRD to mention just 'Amanda' here on my journal. I don't usually mention her specifically (not for lack of love for her - she's wicked cool!), but seeing as she is one of the guests at Chicago this year, it's likely I'll be mentioning her more. Just, when you ALSO are named Amanda, it's weird to type it out/see it (unless it's for class, ya know?) b/c it feels slightly narcissistic and like I'm talking about myself in the third person. *snirk*

Alrighty, I think that's it for tonight. I'm trying to hold out and see if the interwebz activity picks up...maybe I could just lie down and come back to the comp should it get more action-packed...

Day 7

Apr. 20th, 2009 12:09 am
dannysgirlsg1: (Jack Danny - Glasses Push Love)

Happy stuffs for today:

Spending several hours out reading Angels & Demons and enjoying the thankfully unrainy weather (it looked close to storming all day).

Chatting (phone this time) with [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1  - taco bell and crosswalks FTW!

Finding out my phone has a whole bunch of cool converters! Finding out things about a phone I've had for almost a year and half is always highly exciting/amusing to me. You should've seen/heard me when I was able to talk and txt on it at the same time! *snirk*

So I was gonna post like an hour ago, but got caught up in watching Family Guy and Robot Chicken...

Figured I'd post a little since I'm in a decent mood... I've been in a good mood since this afternoon, but it definitely improved when I read something that made me squee. Watching Family Guy/Robot Chicken only made it more awesome.

Read more Frankenstein today. I'm thinking I might be able to get it done by tomorrow evening. That way I can watch the movie version of it (the one with Robert DiNero) this weekend, as well as start on Angels and Demons.

Was pretty productive today - got my laundry done and my room picked up. And there was the reading too. Had fun in class (usually do in my archaeology class). So a good day all around.

Managed to work on more of the Victor sketch yesterday. I was gonna post it's progress tonight, but it's a little late now. I'll try and get that up tomorrow.

Well, that's all I've got for this post.

First, no I'm not watching Continuum on Skifficans. I love my SG-1 and I LOVE Continuum, but I refuse to give Skifficans the satisfaction of getting my undivided attention. I plan to watch it next week on the DVD when they show it again.

Instead, I've spent my evening watching various other things -

Cut 1 because I kinda rambled on here... )

Now I'm in a debate in what I'm going to watch when I'm done here. It's a toss up between a good movie and a bad one. I have so many GOOD movies I want to watch, and only one bad one. That's Jason X. The possible good options are Wall-E, Dark Knight, and Australia. I'll decide soon...I hope!

Went to Starbucks and read some Frankenstein today. Got 30-something pages read. It's a very EASY book to read considering how it's written. It's an EXCELLENT book. Fabulous writing. I've set my 'must read by' date for the 15th - that way I'll have a month to read Angels & Demons again before the movie comes out. I'm sure I'll finished Frankenstein before that date, but you never know.

So I got a new toy (literally)!!!!!:

Cut 2 because he's too wicked cool to go without one! )

That's all I've got for now. I've suddenly started considering working on fic b/c I promised [livejournal.com profile] dvshipper  I'd finish Part 3 of 'She's Everything' this weekend if she wrote me something awesome earlier in the week (hey, I gotta be a muse who bribes if the situation calls for it!) - it's almost finished as is. But now she's putting out more fic (YAY! WIN!) and I feel I must hold up my end of the bribe! So maybe my good movie/bad movie debate is for not....*ponders*

EDIT: Apparently I'm going to a party, so all chill things are out! *snirk*

First, no I'm not watching Continuum on Skifficans. I love my SG-1 and I LOVE Continuum, but I refuse to give Skifficans the satisfaction of getting my undivided attention. I plan to watch it next week on the DVD when they show it again.

Yeah, don't ask why I put that particular line - it may have somethin to do with the fact I'm listening to "A Knife in the Dark" at this very moment and youtubed that scene the quote is from Friday night (so I could have it on my favorites to watch whenever I want)...

But I just figured I'd update some since I'm kinda not  really procrastinating from doing things I need to get done... (I HAVE been productive today - really!)

So yesterday I had planned to work on a vid I said I'd work on, but ended up going to the mall with my friends. We had originally gone to see a movie, but decided to forgo the movie until next week for a little shopping instead (and no, I didn't get Twilight on DVD - still don't have it, and am apparently am the only person still without it!). Got a new pillow case because the Jack Sparrow one I've had for the past 5 years is kinda done - I don't WANT to retire him because I used him literally every day for the past 5 years, but now I can pretty much see through him. So the new pillow case is the Skeleanimals kitteh...also got a skeleanimals hat (the kitteh, of course) which can be seen below:

Teh most awesomenest hat EVAR... )

I got two shirts (from seperate stores) - one very vintagey looking one with a Geisha on it (which i'm wearing now) and a St. Patty's day one that was on sale which says 'I Heart Irish Boys' on it (which is very true, of course!). Then got some sunglasses since I'm FINALLY back to wearing contacts and can wear sunglasses again. The biggest purchase was a pair of wedges from Payless that, like the hat, couldn't be passed up! It's hard to find a good pair of wedges...

It looks like my page count for the past year will pretty much be where it is now come Wednesday, when I must end it. I've had chances to read in the past week, but haven't really had much urge to. It doesn't help that I bought a yellow legal pad (for the number one reason we LVOE yellow legal pads) and have been distracted into doing other things before class instead of reading. I'm gonna try and read tomorrow instead of writing more of the damn letter novella, but there's no guarantees...

I have to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail tonight for ENC...but I have so many other things I WANT to watch (like Australia)... *sigh* And there's other things I want/need to get done... it sucks being busy.

So with that, I think I'll head off and watch Monty Python (i'll just SUFFER through it *snirk*), then get down to business with other things...
