Okay, so here is the paper I wrote last semester for my Ancient Mysteries class. One of the prompts was we could choose out own topic, as long as it was done if relation to ancient/cult mysteries (such as the Dionysian Mysteries). I, of course, chose Stargate for my topic because...well, this is me (even though I was supposed to get the topic approved first if it was one of my 'own', but never did). I ended up with a 96 on the paper (yes, out of 100) which I am EXTREMELY happy about - and I did it without citing a single source.

As with all the others, this was a paper for class, so it had to be done in a certain way and I had to find angles in the topic that might not be...well, agreed upon by others. Anywho, here it is (Sorry about how it is 'organized' here on LJ...the damn site doesn't recognize Word coding anymore and won't cooperate and display the text the right way)

So I've gathered up all the gifs I've made since the last post. And for all who didn't see my post last night (figuring that's everybody since nobody left any comments...this is why I've stopped updating on life things all the time...nobody cares...anywho...), you can make requests for gifs. If you need a reference list of what material I have, my DVD list is HERE.

There's quite a few, so could take a while to load depending on your interwebz speed and such...

Onto the gifs! )

Over on Tumblr, I've been doing the 30 Day Stargate SG-1 Meme. Tonight was Day 30, so I figured I'd come here and link to all the days (of which I never missed a single one) of the meme. Hope you guys enjoy it

If you wish, you can just click on the meme tag on the first post and see them all in order without having to click a link and go to a different page. You'll have to scroll through a handful of meme posts that weren't part of the SG-1 30 Day Meme, but it still saves you from having to click 30 separate links.

So the official Canucks twitter just posted a link to their By The Numbers for the big road trip (aka "The Road Trip from Hell" or the one that will keep them away from GM Place for "nine years" *snirk*), and there's some interesting stats and some funny ones too...

4.3 - Number of times a player could read the first Twilight book to pass the time.

0 - Number that will read Twilight.

Yeah, that got me laughing.

Also, in completely different news, I'm considering doing [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer  (SG-1 Big Bang)...slightly crazy, but I already have a story in the works (that would be 'Choices') and my finally decided resolution for the year is to embrace my creative abilities. So this seems like a good way to keep to that. That, or I really am crazy!

Now you guys know (or at least SHOULD know) how much I love archaeology...if I didn't love it so much, there probably wouldn't have been any interest in SG-1 and it definitely wouldn't be my chosen career path...

Still, I don't love it sooo much that I love studying for an archaeology exam. You think something like this would be easy and enjoyable, and yet...it's not. I think I had more fun last year cramming all that info in about primates and human behavior for the physical anthro class than I am having right now trying to get all this info for my archaeo. test.

In all honesty, it's NOT the information I'm studying...actually, I'm finding it all very fascinating (as should be expected). Especially b/c this test (which, even though it technically falls on a finals week day, it's just a regular exam - with on exception) focuses on the Americas, and Teotihuacan is one of the sites focused on. So I can make Crystal Skull/City of the Gods references which help me somewhat.

It's more ALL the information I'm being forced to remember. He gave us a study guide, which has all the usual test stuff plus two essay questions (this is that once exception I mentioned). He also informed us he's only picking ONE of the prompts, and we won't know which one it is until we take the test. So we have to study ALL the information anyways. It's pointless - an overabundance of information can be just as dangerous as having too little information. AND he wants details, such as specific names and dates. I understand this is archaeology and dates and names ARE important. Still, can we REALLY be expected to remember the dates and names from EVERY period/site we've learned in the class?? Even the prof himself can only tell us specifically when he was his notes/slides in front of him - seems a bit hypocritical to me!

*phew* Okay, that was my rant for this year's finals week. Last year, it was about 7:30 AM exams (thankfully have NONE this semester). This year, it's about the format of the tests.

~Pip

P.S. - So not sure how many know this, but last year at ChiCon, Michael apologized for being my inspiration to be an archaeologist (jokingly, of course...I think...or not! XP). Well, at the time, I laughed and it was all good fun. Now?? I ACCEPT THAT DAMN APOLOGY! XP

It seeming to be Shanks!Decemeber and all (there's a LOT of things he's starred in that are showing this month, plus his birthday is the 15th of course), I decided (and hope to be right) to check the USA schedule for this month to see if, JUST MAYBE, at least one of his Burn Notice eps would be shown...lo and behold, what did I find?

BURN NOTICE MARATHON DECEMEBER 31st!!

Truth and Reconciliation at 12 PM, Sins of Omission at 1 PM, and Lesser Evil at 2 PM (all EST)!

Huzzah! I feel so fulfilled knowing I was right...I could practically feel it! XD

So, make a stickie to remind yourself (YES, that means YOU [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1 ) these will be on! ;)

Oh, also, Unending, Ark of Truth, and Continuum are on SyFail this monday, starting at 8 AM (again, EST).
