So I need to catch up on my reading since that ended up not happening last night, but I figured I'd post a little bit before I settled into that.

Just got back from seeing Pocahontas at the SLC (it was gonna be The Little Mermaid, but they changed it to Pocahontas last minute. Didn't matter - it was a Disney movie on the big screen). Enjoyed it, of course. I remember seeing it in theaters when it first came out. And even now, I still got goosebumps watching it. They really don't make movies like that anymore (which is why I'm so excited for The Princess and the Frog! XD). I was thrown when Savages P.1 came around because the soundtrack version of the song is DEFINITELY different then the movie version. Clearly some MAJOR changes went into it btwn the OST and when it was released. The OST version is definitely more hardcore than the theatrical version. Guess they were forced to change it. And honestly, I still don't see how it can give kids the wrong impression b/c even just watching it now I KNEW both sides were wrong for judging and all that stuff. Knew it back then, too. But we won't get into the politics of Disney and their movies. LOL.

I missed my math recitation today. I didn't want to, but it was pouring down rain and I can't risk getting sicker than I already am this close to Dragon*Con. It was a quiz, but if I'm remembering correctly they drop the lowest quiz grade so it shouldn't affect me too much. Thank god next Monday is a holiday. Otherwise I'd be missing two recitations in a row - not good.

Sickness wise, things are looking up already. I had some sleepy time tea last night, along with some Echinacea and Nyquil, to help me get a good night's sleep and fight off this ickyness. Woke up feeling bleh, but after some more vitamins and drinking a lot of water, I've started to feel better. Will repeat last night's before bed regimen tonight. Hopefully that will knock out this cold or whatever for good. I did buy some Dayquil today just in case, and plan to have it with me when I go to D*C. I REFUSE to let ickyness get me down!

Alrighty, I really need to settle in to this reading and get it knocked out.

I blame getting sick because...well, I am. And honestly it's hard to think about much right now. I'm trying to get into a fandomy mood (leaning towards working on some vid ideas)...doesn't mean a quote will come easily. LOL.

Only 3 more days left until I head off to Atlanta for Dragon*Con. Honestly, right now, I'm kinda just feeling bleh about it. I'm sure I'll have fun while there, it's just riding Greyhound to GET there isn't going to be enjoyable. Greyhound never is. And then the ride BACK?! Oh joy. Can't WAIT. Plus, getting sick now only makes that seem like more of a hassle. *sigh* This would all still be soooooo worth it if Michael and Lexa were going to be there. Don't get me wrong - I'm looking forward to seeing Ben and Claudia and pretty much everyone else I just saw in Chicago - as well as seeing many of my friends from the interwebz/Twitterwebz. Just...it would be nice to be seeing Michael again and FINALLY getting to see Lexa, ya know?

Spent this weekend kinda just chillaxing around here and hanging out with my friends. Friday night didn't end up being as crazy as first thought. There was drinking involved, of course. We did see part of the drag show, but then ended up leaving and heading back to David's. Had a little bit more to drink, and then went to Rayne. Maybe is was just this impending sickness, but I pretty much just sat around at Rayne and watched everyone else dance. Yesterday was Amanda's birthday, so we went out to eat at Logan's. Then we ended up at Border's. I was going to get Prisoner of Azkaban for my Religion class (it's the only one I couldn't find here at the bookstore), but it was $11. That's RIDICULOUS. I looked for the second Burn Notice novel, but they only had the first. So I ended up leaving the bookstore WITHOUT a book (*GASP*, right?). We ended up at the fountain, where of course I ended up in the damn thing again (voluntarily, again, of course). After that, it was a run to Blockbuster (where I got photographic evidence of Mega Snake and Swarmed being available to rent - yes, I am shameless about these things). We rented a few movies, and came back to watch Push first while drinking some margaritas. I enjoyed the movie - will need to watch it again since it was so damn hard to HEAR the movie. But yeah...I came back to the suite first while they stayed and watched Zoolander.

Today I picked up my room and got a little more organized classes wise. I did attempt to do homework, but the math didn't work out because the site kept crashing Firefox. And the reading for my other classes didn't work because all it did was make me sleepy. Ended up taking a nap. I think I may attempt to read some more if just to get more caught up. If not, I'll have A LOT of reading to do tomorrow evening. Really don't want that.

Random stuff:

~ Either The Little Mermaid or Pocahontas is showing tomorrow at the SLC. Not sure which. I do know we will be going to see it, what it turns out to be. Honestly, I hope it's TLM only because I saw Pocahontas in theaters - would love to see TLM!

~ We all read fanfic in our suite. Well, I was reading some today and Paris (who I share my side of the suite with) comes into my room and then goes 'OH, Daniel...' in a sort of disappointed voice. Apparently she was hoping I was branching out and reading from another fandom (they read Harry/Draco fanfic mostly). Silly girl. WHAT was she thinking??

~ I have nothing else random to say. *snirk*

To start, being sick really fucking blows and I want my head to feel NORMAL again. (Wow, that statement didn't sound the LEAST bit sexual! *SNIRK*)

Some random bursts of thoughts that I felt needed to be posted:

Thanks for all the feedback on the new header/layout. Rommie seems to be a big flist favorite! This is the first header I've made/used in a while that I really like every bit of, so I'm glad you all like it too!

Red Wings beat the Blackhawks and have advanced onto the Stanley Cup finals! XD This pleases me! (Though, of course, still wish it was the Canucks going...it was fun to have something truly invested in a team!)

I've been lax in my reading...so horrible of me. Maybe tomorrow I'll get some substantial reading done since Netflix frelled up and I won't be getting my next Andromeda disk for another couple of days. So it's either read or sleep...depends on how shitty I feel.

The Photo Op ticket purchasing plan has been revised, and getting the ticket for Amanda's Photo Op has been pushed back since I had to go and buy ANOTHER Michael one. Like I wasn't gonna do BOTH the scruffy and suave options - PFFT! Now with that happening, the Gary Jones photo op ticket might not be in the cards for me. I mean, I'm sure I'll get the money, but you never know if I'll have to pull another 'dash and buy' autograph ticket performance this year too. I like to have my options open, after all.

I've never mentioned it before, but it's SO WEIRD to mention just 'Amanda' here on my journal. I don't usually mention her specifically (not for lack of love for her - she's wicked cool!), but seeing as she is one of the guests at Chicago this year, it's likely I'll be mentioning her more. Just, when you ALSO are named Amanda, it's weird to type it out/see it (unless it's for class, ya know?) b/c it feels slightly narcissistic and like I'm talking about myself in the third person. *snirk*

Alrighty, I think that's it for tonight. I'm trying to hold out and see if the interwebz activity picks up...maybe I could just lie down and come back to the comp should it get more action-packed...

I'm really starting to feel like crap...my head's pounding once more and my throat is starting to bother me. All I want to really do is curl up in bed and sleep, but I can't because I have things to do...

Like work on the second draft for my ENC paper - I need to add more to it and put some cited material in it. Of course I have to find the right material, which is why I'm planning on doing that after this post. It's due tomorrow by noon. I don't have classes for ENC this coming week b/c of conferences, so that's nice. As it looks right now, by the way I'm starting to feel, I might not be going to classes tomorrow. Maybe it won't get any worse, but knowing my luck it will. *sigh*

The other thing I kinda need to do, but it far less important then my paper, is work on the playlists for Little Remmie's library. I already have a few made, which i think will suite me for now, but it's annoying not having them all done like they are for my older iPod's library.

As for the Super Bowl commercials - the only thing that's impressed me have been all the movie trailers. Seeing an ACTUAL trailer for Angels & Demons was very exciting! I seriously can't wait for that movie. The other was the Star Trek trailer - seeing Karl Urban made my LOtR brabbits very happy.

Got a little reading done for Roswell - I hate when things get so busy that I don't have time to read. I've been trying to read this book for over a month. So wrong... It's GOOD, and i want to just be able to sit down and enjoy it!

Okie donkie, i'm gonna go get this second draft knocked out so I can at least get more comfortable in this bed when it's finished.

I've got to brush up on my Great Ace quotes for when we go to Chicago... nothing is a better ice breaker than walking up to a stranger and going "Bumblebee Tuna... Bumblebee Tuna!" *snirk*

I FINALLY got Madre and Smurfinator to watch Continuum!!! *dances* We actually just got finished watching it a little while ago...*sigh* That movie is so much love, and they actually LIKED it. Okie donkie, they liked AOT too, but THAT is neither here nor there. The point is they didn't complain AT ALL about it (though Smurfinator made some frelling comments to Sam - and i mean literally to her during the movie...yes, he is the type that talks to the movie characters - that REALLY pissed me off). Of course he was asking a BUTT load of questions about five seconds before the answer to the question would come on screen. *headdesk* And he didn't get the significance of a lot of the stuff going on in the movie (like the hardcore fandom stuff that made a lot of us squee or awww, i mean). But they enjoyed it and that's the best I could hope for.

Madre just yelled upstairs (because we yell across the house... a lot) to put it on the tv guide channel. That special about Comic Con is on...so I figured it HAD to be about SG-1. And it was, but I caught the tail end of it. *headdesk* Just my frelling luck... I'm sure it'll be on again, but I never know when and it's always such a hassle to try and catch stuff like that. GRRRRRR - hey, maybe it'll be up online eventually. What am I saying - this is SG-1 stuff I'm talking about! OF COURSE it will be online! XP

If you were to ask me what's the question people have asked me the most in the past month it would HAVE to be - 'when are you going back?' OMFG, it's starting to grate. Really! It seems I know A LOT more people than I thought I did because it seems every damn day SOMEONE is asking me that question! It takes all i have to POLITELY tell them it's about two weeks until i go back to school. Honestly, all i want to do it go out on the porch and shout 'IT'S TWO FUCKING WEEKS, ALRIGHT!?', but that won't stop people from asking me, will it?

OH, we saw The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor last night!!! XD Thoughts behind a cut to save flist space. Don't worry, no spoilers! )

I think I'm getting sick... My head is hurting, my nose and throat are bothering me, and for some reason my teeth have been hurting me. Maybe it's my sinuses...I usually don't have a problem with them, but when I do, it's not fun. Honestly, though, I'd rather be sick NOW than in three weeks when I'm gonna be at the con!

Worked on some fic today while in the box. I'd been feeling a little lost fic wise, but today after pontificating (if you want an explaination for THAT one, just let me know! *snirk*) a little, I decided just to go ahead and get back into a fic I started a couple weeks ago. I'm actually happy with the part I was working on just before packing it up in the box. It's classic DV mischief stuff - it's always so great when the banter flows so freely and easily! I don't know if I'll finish the part tonight, but it definitely should be done by tomorrow.

I'm thinking about doing a centerpiece for the contest in Chicago...thoughts, opinions? Yes/No? I know I can make a mean Stargate out of aluminium foil and masking tape, but I need to know if I should go through the trouble of getting the other stuff I'll need to do it. So, flist thoughts on this idea?

Okie donkie, on that note, I think I'm gonna end this here. I really need to get ready to bed and try and fight off this ickyness!

~Pip

Madre gave me some Benadryl, and I am feeling better already - so I guess it was a bite from that spider that was making feel like dren. Of course laying down in her bed for half an hour (she has the most COMFORTABLE BED EVAR!) also helped, but now I'm uber lethargic and just ready to crawl in my own bed and SLEEP!

Just wanted to update all who were concerned. ;P

dannysgirlsg1: (Aeryn - Despair)
I'm feeling a little stressed and anxious right now...idk why, really. There's nothing that's happened all day that would make me feel this way... Underneath all this unusual anxiety, I'm in a good mood (i know because the anxiousness will come, and then go and i'll be good...but it's really bothering me... maybe that's why the anxiety keeps coming back...)

While I wait for Madre and Ted to get home (i am going to do my damnedest to convinve them to watch Continuum tonight!), i figured I'd make an actual substantial post...figured I'd talk about all the awesomeness that was yesterday...

So yesterday was Madre's b-day. At first, I wasn't sure if we were actually going to DO anything (knew we were gonna go get Thai food for her birthday dinner cause that's what she wanted, but that was it). Then, in the midst of our all morning debate on what we COULD do (b/c let's face it - in Breaux Bridge/Lafayette, there really isn't MUCH that can be done!), both of us realized that we wanted to go to Baton Rouge. I really didn't have a specific reason for wanting to go - I just wanted a change in pace and scenery, ya know? But Madre wanted to go check out the little Antique places when been to before that way. So we set out for Baton Rouge (I really didn't mind - as long as it kept me out of the house and away from checking iTunes millions of times for Continuum...).

Ironically, as we got on I10, I was thinking about how the Basin Bridge has been closed down a lot lately, due to accidents and stuff. For those who have never been down this way ever, the Basin Bridge is the section of I10 that crosses over the Atchafalaya Basin (basically, swamp land) - actually, parts of it were destroyed during Katrina and Rita - and there's only ONE exit along the bridge, and that's Whiskey Bay. You either have to get off at Butte La Rose BEFORE the bridge, or some other podunk town AFTER it... or at Whiskey Bay. Basically, it's not easy to just go another way. You are ON the bridge and you go the distance of it...stupid, yes, but this is LA. They're not known for their smarts.

So we're on the Bridge, just past Whiskey Bay (literally JUST PAST the exit), and traffic has come to a complete stop in front of us. Turns out that there was an 18 wheeler on fire at the end of the Bridge, going east bound (which is the side we were on of course!), so traffic was at a stand still until they got it taken care of. We got to sit for almost an hour and half in the nice 90 degree weather, on a raised bridge above Louisiana swamp! And of course, the Smurfinator was calling anyone he could complain to because GO FORBID he has to sit in the heat and suffer like the rest of us.

Anywho, after much unnecessary bitching from him and sweating myself into anorexia *snirk*, we got on our way and finally made it into Baton Rouge. Headed to the nice Antique places, and basically just window shopped. I saw a few things I REALLY liked, but not for those prices. There was this GORGEOUS wooden jewelry box, but it was $180. Yeah, really don't have that kind of money (at least not for spending - YET!). I like going to Antique shops, though. You can find some really cool vintage stuff there. I've actually been looking for a vintage purse - nothing specific. Just something artsy and fun, and not bought from the mall like my last two were. I prefer the vintage stuff, and am in need of a new purse. Sadly, i can't find a bag that i like anywhere.

But yeah, we left Baton Rouge after that (went 40 miles to window shop! AWESOME!). We came home and waited about an hour before going out to eat. I'd never had Thai food before, but I tried some of what Madre was having (don't ask me to spell it, please!) and liked it. I mostly just did my traditional birthday napkin for Madre, and drank tea (because that's what I do - I draw and drink tea!). But it was enjoyable.

Then the Smurfinator surprised us (though I half expected it!) by taking us to the movies. I was hoping we could see Dark Knight, but it had started just before we got there (and there's nothing worse for all involved than showing up to a movie late!), so we all decided Wanted would be the next best thing... AND DAMN, that movie was hardcore! I was really impressed. It started off a little...wow...I mean, i knew it was rated R, but I wasn't it to be so...graphic. Got used to it after a little while though, and REALLY got into it! That's a movie that I WILL be getting when it comes out on DVD!

We came home after that, and that's when I DLed Continuum, and you know all the rest! XD

You know, I think I may just be over-tired... It's either that, or I was bitten by something I'm allergic to. The feelings are the same in ways (actually, almost all ways). It's probably because having an allergic reaction makes me over tired and runs me down. But yeah, I TRIED to sleep peacefully last night after I finished Continuum, but i just couldn't. I kept freaking out and my thoughts were on super fast mode...idk why... but this morning, i found a spider crawling in my bed. It wasn't a wolf spider, either. And Saturday, a bite had appeared on my left ankle and it hasn't gone away yet. I THINK there's two puncture wounds, but I'm known for being paranoid when it comes to these things. I've checked my temperature a couple times today, but the thermometer is wonko and keeps coming up with TOTALLY different readings...

*sigh* But, again, could just be anxious for no reason. It happens sometimes - I get over it... it's just so stressful when it DOES happen, and i worry about EVERYTHING ALL DAY. Continuum helped me get AWAY from this feeling - that's why I'm hoping they'll agree to watch it tonight. One can only hope, right?

Anywho, that is all for now. Madre is making Chicken Fried Steak. Very nice!

I realized last night that I was sorely lacking in the great ace inspired subject lines - so it all you see is Ace quotes for the next week, you know why...

I really don't have much to post about tonight b/c all I did as work today, but there are a few things I wanted to talk about...

First, before I lose the oomph to do it, I HAVE to rant about the thing at work today that makes me GLAD I'm heading back to school in a month. There are certain days when I work inside that I really cannot STAND the other cashiers. It's not something they do specifically,  like say something bad or act horrible. It's just almost all of them are selfish, spoiled, south louisiana raised brats. Kylie and Gabbie are probably the only two I never have an issue with. Take tonight, for example. Whitley and Janice were working (we always have three cashiers on Friday nights, since it is the busiest night of the week for us) with me. I know i've mentioned it before, but these girls tend not to talk to me because they think their hot high school shit and i'm not important. It's no big deal, really. I've taken to bringing my notebook to my register and writing to [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1 or working on fic when I don't have customers. And of course, i ALWAYS stop writing when someone comes to my register. Well, these girls (and it's not just these two - most of the other cashiers do it) will get caught up in talking to each other, or with one or more of the floorboys, and not be paying attention to customers. So I'll end up with three people lined up at MY register, when registers 2 and 3 have no one at them. And of course i always say, in a kind manner, to the customer that 'she can get you on register 2'. I shouldn't HAVE to say that - whoever's ON register 2 should be paying ATTENTION and let the customer know HERSELF that she's open. If i see someone standing in line at another register, and i have no one, I always let them know I'm open... And it's not just happening once. It's happening OVER AND OVER. At one point tonight, I was in the office helping Madre and Kylie walks in saying 'Mandy, there's someone at you're register...' I was like 'I'm not AT MY REGISTER, WHY is someone there?!' Because Janice and Whitley had let her put her stuff up on my register without saying anything. And Whitley had NO customers at the time! I was pissed, to say the least...

I actually prefer working with one of the floor boys on register than with any of the actual cashiers! I mean, at least the boys will let a customer know he's open. Jessie is the best to work with because he pays attention to customers and he makes me laugh and talks to me... But Jessie is off until after tomorrow. *sigh* So i've had to deal with annoying cashiers and mostly annoying floor boys.

Yeah, I won't be missing my job when I go back to school. Knowing that it's waiting for me when I get back here isn't looking as good as it did last year...

Okie donkie - enough about Hebert's for now....

So my tongue is still a little irritated. It's not as bad as it was last night, but it's still annoying me. I listerined again tonight, and it has helped. I'm hoping it'll be gone by tomorrow morning...

OH, and I've figured out why I was feeling a little off last night. I got my FRIEND today (didn't i say I hoped that's what it was??). And surprisingly, even with getting it today, I was in a good mood all day. I've been bouncy and perky and...bouncy. I think the pics from the Continuum premiere at Comic Con helped. Oh, and I'm gonna get to see it in TWO DAYS, and Chicago is less than a month away!!!! And having all these people give such lovely reviews on ff.net! (even though i still feel horrible for spamming like i did. I really wasn't posting back to back to back like it came up...i mean, there were time gaps in between a lot of the fics being posted...but ff.net just put them all up like that!)... so i've had lots of things to keep me in a good mood!

Burn Notice is made of win - just thought I'd say that.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1 and [livejournal.com profile] dvshipper both saw it today, I've been thinking about Wall-E. It reminded me that I wanted to try and find a possible list of all the Disney/Pixar cameos that they always throw into each of their movies! They're always fun to look for when you go back and watch it! I can't seem to find just a round-up of the cameos and I was wondering if anyone happens to know where I can find one?  (There is ONE cameo I saw on my own, and that was seeing Chomp from Toy Story in a section of Wall-E's earth junk collection. I tried to see if the Pizza Planet truck was in there because it's the ONE thing in ALL of the movies, but I never saw it! I'm SURE it's there though!)

Okie donkie, i think that's it for now... my PLAN (you know how those go *snirk*) is to work on Ch.13 of CoL.... hoping to get it done tonight!

I keep seeing that same commercial for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and it's getting me more and more excited for the movie!!! XD

So I've just got a few random things to post about... I'm actually not feeling very good suddenly, so we'll see how far i get with this randomness...

First, am finally all caught up on ff.net. I was slacking over there when it came to posting, and decided on Tuesday to get caught up. It's just so much hassle to post something over there! Of course this experience has shown me that it's WAY easier to post when a story is finished then waiting until you have a whole BUNCH of finished fics to post. I hated having to spam the main page, but I wanted to get it knocked out. And knocked out it is - all that's left is the most recent prompt I did for [community profile] mission_insane. I just need to work on all the corrections my lovely beta pointed out.

I wanna know why it is you NEVER realize you have a bruise on your leg until you're shaving said leg?! I mean, how come I don't ever remember running into anything to get a bruise, but there's always at least one there when I save my legs? It's kinda mind boggling. Last week, I had a nasty bruise that I had no memory of getting...never saw it until i was shaving. It's just one of those mysteries of life, like why Bologna is spelled the way it is, or how they get those mind probes in their heads...

Something is making my tongue break out in a weird way. It's some kind of allergic reaction to something. There's little bumps all over my tongue - Madre said they look like little ulcers. The only thing I've eaten that could do this is the Goldfish I've had up in my room. This isn't the first time they've done this - actually, every time I've eaten Goldfish from this certain bag/box, my tongue feels like it's been rubbed raw. You know that feeling when you eat too many sweet tarts? THAT's how it feels, but without the pleasure of knowing I had the sweet tarts. Before, I was thinking there was just something like the salt that was making my tongue feel this way. But I've eaten goldfish for years and I've never had this problem until just recently. It HAS to be something with that bag... And I ate a lot of them today too, so my tongue is like uber raw feeling right now. I used some listerine (twice, actually), and that helped a little, but I just wish it didn't feel like this. It's annoying...

But now I'm not feeling too hot, so I'm wondering if I might be having an allergic reaction to something else... I don't have any bites or anything anywhere that I'm aware of. I'm hoping it's just bleh-ness because my period is coming. I really don't want to have to deal with anything else right now...

You know what's the BEST game to scare the CRAP out of a cat with? PERFECTION!! They had it on Family Guy tonight, and I couldn't remember the name of it so I ran downstairs and asked Madre. Of course she knew it immediately - I had the game (and SWEAR it's still around here somewhere - if it is, the cats better be on their guard. I've never used it while they've been around. Gracie though - that was FUUUUUUNNY!), and I will never forget the reaction a cat has to it. If you've ever seen the game or remember what it did, you understand why!

Okie donkie, that's all I can do right now. I seriously feel really off at the moment. Hopefully a little sleep will help with that...

It sucks being annoying!sick - ya know, when your nose is like PFFT, throat is like PFFT, eyes are like PFFT, head completely feels like it's filled with cotton, and body is going BLEH...

It's another thing to be annoying!sick and have to deal with the STUPIDITY that is Hebert's...

The ONLY reason i'm not telling Madre I'm not going is I want the four days - and this is my last day this week on register - next two are in the box, which is honestly one of the best job ever for a person like me. This is ONLY to get more money for Chicago - the only reason why I'm putting myself through this HELL...

*sigh*

Another annoyance? My Google desktop toolbar posting things from months ago - I like having the RSS feed so easily accessible, but when it's posting things AGAIN from MARCH, it gets a TAD annoying...

Anywho, that's all for now. Almost time for me to go off and deal with the Hebert's drama.
