FINALLY got the birthday package (TODAY...at 2:30. Ridiculous!), aaaand guess what was in it?!


*drumroll please*


A brand shiny new external hard drive!!! XD XD XD A nice, 1.5 TB hard drive!


I feel so loved right now.


First order of business (what's happening right now) is transferring the iTunes folder from the 100 GB external hard drive to the new one. Then will be all the lovely resources for vidding (because I never deleted any of the stuff I got for the Shanks vid, hoping this is what they were getting me for my b-day).

I officially hate the post office at my school.


Though it's gotten better by switching all the package handling to the UPS Store, which is open longer AND on Saturday, the problem with the speed at which they get package slips out hasn't improved.


Madre sent out a package with one of my birthday presents (I say one because the birthday present I asked for, the jersey, is gonna take some time still) on Thursday morning. She sent it priority mail and they told her it would be here in two days. For NORMAL places, that would mean Saturday.


I check about an hour ago (because it wasn't there Saturday, not that I expected that) and it STILL wasn't there. *sigh*


To put things in perspective, I get packages from Connecticut at home in Louisiana in two days time...meaning one day in between shipping and receiving. From Louisiana to Florida shouldn't take longer.


I'll be checking again after my last two classes today. Not there by then, I'll move on from annoyed to pissed. *angry eyes*

It's been a little bit since I really jammed to this song...okay, so it was last week when I went to bed listening to music, but that is neither here nor there!


I figured I'd give a nice little 'So here's things' post...So here's things:


+ Guess the most prominent thing going on right now is we (the fellow roomies and I) are on the hunt for a place to live next year. We went looking around at apartments yesterday and today. Found two possible places off campus (one that's REEEEALLY NICE) and of course have Ragans considered into the equation. We've made a pro/con list of all the places and are going back to the two off-campus ones tomorrow to clear up some questions we have (and when I say off campus, I mean LITERALLY across the street from main campus - they are right off Tennessee street).


+ In big home news, we got a new puppy. Madre was telling me that he just showed up at the house. They took him to the vet to see if he had any identification (tattoo or chip, etc) because he had a collar but was very dirty. He wasn't tied to any particular owner, vet said. He figures someone just dumped him off. He's a 4-5 month pure black lab. So of course Smurf took to him instantly (good hunting dog and all) and named him Tucker (apparently he doesn't get the idea that it's kinda...weird reusing a name you already used for a pet...we've already had Tucker the kitteh). What's wrong is Smurf is playing favorites and completely ignoring Harley now...poor Harley. He always got more luvin' from me and Madre anyways.


+ Challenge 1 of Round 1 at shanks_lims  has kicked off!! Sign ups are open through the end of the first challenge, so you still have time to join! And even if you don't have the icon making skills or aren't quite up for ANOTHER lims, keep an eye on the comm anyways. Guarantee there will be much pretteh coming out of it! *nods*


+ Loving my French class! It's actually pretty easy to understand and I've been doing really well. Been acing all my assignments and I got a 94 on my first exam! *dances* I knew taking French would be a good idea - the fact that it's my favorite class this semester is saying a lot.


+ Trip to see the Canucks is pretty much a no go at this point. I don't have a set person to go with, and the dineros situation is even more dire. I am bummed, of course. But I need to, ya know, SURVIVE the rest of the semester so I can't just flit away money to watch hockey. Also, won't be getting my Kesler jersey in time if I did still go, so it kinda takes half the fun out of it.


+ If you haven't seen yet, all new promo for Absolute Justice HERE. We get full on Shanks in this one with speaking stuff and scruffy and HOE-MG I WANT THIS NOW!! A week and a half is TOO LONG!! (thanks to perpetuality1 for the heads up!)


Okie donkie, I think that covers everything right now. I was gonna mention how my loud twitter had stopped working since they had the system down, but it's finally posted again. So that's all straightened out!

Okay, Madre is an evil woman for ONCE AGAIN getting that song stuck in my head. This is the third time it's happened in as many days!


Well, back at school. Not sure how I feel about this. Part of me is glad to be away from home again because it means no more kitteh drama for a while, no more being hollered at to stop what ever I'm doing and help THEM do something. But it also means SCHOOL stuff is upon me and that I don't have those dramatic kittehs to provide me equal entertainment and cuddles. I'm missing them terribly right now and it hasn't even been 24 hours. At this time, I would have a Sikozu or Billie Jean in my lap...*sniff* I don't like the empty lap thing I have going on.


In hair news, the PINK is BACK! XD Just got finished taking care of that (after it took me some time to get EVERYTHING unpacked, set up, put away, etc.), and there's a part of me that feels complete once more! I would take pics, but I didn't dry it tonight so it's kinda pointless. I'll take some tomorrow and post the whole lot (precut, post cut, prepink, PINK!) together.


Alrighty, short entry. There's some fic I wanna read (very EXCITED to read, actually), plus it seems updating the journal tonight is dangerous to my heath. I aggravated my knee when moving stuffs back into my room today and mindless babble post is making me bouncy and rock the knee. O.o Might as well just take the temptation away!

Just a few things:


- Madre made it through the surgery very well. Smurf called me this morning after she was out, and then I talked to her myself right after Meridian was over (and wow, I bawled so much watching it this time...idk why). She will be able to go home tomorrow at noon, and then Smurf will hit the road and be on his way to pick me up. Found out that Hook is coming with him to help ease up the burden of the long drive - JOY! All I can say is thank GODS for Remmie! *pets perfect little iPod of awesomepops*


- SYTYCD tonight COMPLETELY baffled me! HOW did they BOTH make it into the top 6?!?! There is NO way Ryan was better than Legacy. People who voted just bought into Ryan and Ashley's sympathy story and voted for them OVER the BETTER dancers! *breathes* Doesn't matter anyways - JAKOB will be winning it. When he dances, it's beauty and perfection all rolled into one. I have elected him to be my gay husband.


- HOME tomorrow...or rather, Friday. Which means it'll be cutting close for setting up the VCR for Sanctuary that night. As always...b/c I'm always rushing home for the holidays/breaks to watch some something or other that is premiering that Shanks is in. Over the summer, it was Living Out Loud. Last christmas break, it was Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon. *snirk*


Alrighty, that's all I've got for now. Today has been pretty uneventful - surprising for finals week.

So, here's things:


- FINISHED my assignment for the dv_exchange . I am VERY happy about this for a couple reasons. First is I like what I did with the assignment I received. Not that I HAVEN'T liked my past assignments, but considering how I went in expecting to do one prompt and randomly did another is...weirdly satisfactory. The second is because it's DONE, out of the way, ready to be posted when posting opens. Means I can focus on these damn holiday cards!


~ My TV died (meaning the dorm room TV, not the home TV. THAT would be epic!tragedy!). I turned it on this morning JUST to see what Gilmore Girls ep was ending (so I knew which would be on later), and it kinda spazzed out (sound wise - no picture ever came on the screen) and then just...stayed off. I tried unplugging and replugging it. Nothing. The thing is ded. D-E-D, ded. The good news is we have a spare tv at home that I can bring back after Christmas break (if Smurf can't fix it), and thankfully this TV (now dubbed 'Kawalsky' by a loyal Twitter follower) decided to kick it two days before I go home. Also, isn't nice to know i can have a pretty decent sense of humor about it:






- The one thing I REALLY wanted for X-mika (a Canucks home jersey, customized with Kesler's name)?? I'm going to be getting it AFTER all. With Madre's surgery (which is tomorrow, at 7 am...JOY! *sigh*), it didn't seem like we'd have much of a X-mika. And I know it's not about the presents...it's never BEEN about that. Still I know Madre felt bad about not getting me what I wanted (of TWO things, the other being the Farscape boxset). But, we've come into some money and Madre has informed me my jersey, whether it's in time for X-mika or not, will be the first this she gets with this money. THIS is why I love my mommy. She really is the bestest!


- Found THIS watching Under the Mistletoe Sunday evening, and I was greatly pleased:

Alrighty, I think that's it for tonight. I volunteered to polish off the last of the undisclosed beverage drink in the freezer, so the world is a bit spinny right now and brain is a bit mucked up. ;)

P.S. - With all this L4D gameplay (all Kilplix and friends at this point) I've been watching lately and seeing how tied in these guys are to specific characters, I have to wonder - What character does Shanks like to play most?? Does he have a preference (and I'm assuming he would)...it's something to ponder, I think. *shrugs*

Yeah, I won't be getting much time of that in the coming weeks...let's see here:


- I have 21 Holiday Cards I am hand making and sending out to people. I will be cutting down on some of the work by making copies of some of the pieces. There is NO WAY I can hand draw this stuff 21 different times. It's just easier to pay the money (since my printer is out of ink) to make the copies. Less stress on my sanity...since I have so many other things to rip what's left of it away.


- There's my dv_exchange assignment that needs to be finished. That, to my complete surprise and relief, is coming together with very little hassle. There have been a few problems, but nothing that couldn't be solved with a little quick thinking. My GOAL is to maybe, hopefully, perhaps have it finished before I go home next Thursday.


- When I DO go home, I'll have to help take care of Madre. She is going in for surgery Wednesday morning for a hysterectomy (this is that personal issue I mentioned a while back that I never actually elaborated on). This means *I* will be the main house-keeper-upper while I'm home for X-mika. Add on top of that the fact that I'll also be WORKING over X-mika break. I can't just go three weeks at home without working. I NEED the dineros. Oh, and as a side note, SyFail in all it's EPICLY FANTASTIC TIMING is showing MERIDIAN on Wednesday. Way to make sure I'm a worried mess that day!


- Finals are next week. The fact that I feel I'll do the best on my math exam frightens me a bit. I am so completely unprepared for the other two, though I'm hoping to rectify that problem this weekend with mucho studying (much like I did last year for my physical anthro. class). On the plus side, this means I have NO CLASSES until January. HUZZAH! Of course next semester's schedule, as y'all have already seen, is gonna be crazy. It's very unlikely I'll get to do what I want for my birthday because of it, but nothing can be done about that. Three of the classes I'll be taking are required (including that French class). *shrugs* Oh well.


Alrighty, want to crack down on this assignment. I may just be able to get it finished tonight if the proper flow and drive from the brabbits comes nicely!

Also, with Lu's amazing performance and deserved shutout tonight, using that icon to celebrate him! Because...ya know...he rocks awesomepops!

The Canucks are down 1, but I KNOW they can pull this off. So how convenient that ep of SG-1 was on tonight to provide the perfect subject line quote!


So here's some things:


~ Reason why I love FSU: I get opportunities to see movies on the big screen I never would see elsewhere. Last night, they showed Singin' in the Rain. OF COURSE I was there to see it (Madre would've disowned me otherwise). And wowsers, I have a new favorite movie. First time I sat down and watched the whole thing - fell in love within the first 5 minutes. Now I must own this movie.


~ I mentioned I haz Star Trek, yet I still haven't watched it. I couldn't tonight with the game on (and I already mentioned the Canucks withdrawal). Hoping I can do that tomorrow (if I don't go see New Moon...please, don't judge. I want to see it more for the hilarity than anything else. I'm the chick who LOVES Mega Snake, remember?!)...if not, I will be putting it on Remmie for the roadtrip home.


~ Was all set on a crackberry for my next phone (have a name planned for it and everything)...like dead set. Contract is up for renewal this coming week, so I'm up for a new phone. And Crackberry was my hard set choice...and then I saw an add for Alias 2. HOE-MG!! I have the first gen. Alias...Daniel II, of course. And i LOOOVE it. And this new edition is just....SO PRETTY. DAMN YOU, VERIZON. I was SO SET. Now I have phone dilemma!


~ I have been in a very sketching mood lately. Maybe it's b/c ChiCon is officially on and I can start working on the gift (something for both Michael and Lexa this time...though, in all truth, I had something for both of them this year). It will be artwork, of course. I've been tweeting a lot of the stuff I've sketched/doodled in the past few days. GO CANUCKS GO!!!

*cue up random bombardment of life stuffs and thoughts*


~ As fast as the days seem to be going by, it seems like this semester will never end! I want to go HOME! I do love being at school and really this semester, at least classes wise and living wise, isn't horrible. I just miss my mommy and my kitties and just being HOME. Get it - I want to be HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!


~ I do not approve of the judges choice for this week's cut guy on SYTYCD. I mean, there was a style there that...*sigh* And he KILLED in that solo. Way more than the guy they kept! Totally baffled and angered (And I am aware of their names - I'm just trying to keep it as spoiler free as possible b/c I don't feel like using a cut! XP ).


~ Canucks are proving their own, even with all their injured players! Last night's game was a hoot to watch. The fighting was epic, the WINNING was fantastic, Raycroft and Kesler were on fire, AND CANUCKS ENDED UP TRENDING ON THE TWITTERWEBZ! Last night, it was so fulfilling to be a 'Nucks fan! XD And in related news, I SO hope Kesler makes it on Team U.S.A for the Olympics! That would rock awesomepops and I'd have something to look forward to watching when the Olympics come up in February!


~ I am so amazed and shocked at how many people in my History class AGREE that the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was the RIGHT course of action! And how many also agree that the use of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima was the right course of action. Maybe it's just the Daniel Jackson in me (*points* hehe, my mind went to the DIRTY place there), but I think both were WRONG. O.o


~ I kinda sorta really wish it was time for ChiCon/ D*C again...but I AM excited to see what comes out of LA Con this coming weekend. *nods*

~ Thinking it's time for a new Pony. Haven't gotten a new one since the summer...I feel the urge to get another one. The current lot is staring at me like 'Come on, we need a new addition to your plastic pony minions!' Maybe I can persuade Madre to get me another when I go HOME (yes, that place again) in THREE WEEKS. I've always been successful before...I'm sure I can swing it again! XD
