dannysgirlsg1: (AWE - Closer than you think)
So over the course of about a week, I was able to get two really cool videos of some of the weather around here. Finally managed to get the posted online so you guys could enjoy the awesome! (And of course there's always the lovely 'commentary' I give on things in my videos!)

This first one is from July 2nd, and it's of the continuous lightning that was out over Baton Rouge, 40 miles away:

And this other is from this past Monday. I was in the box and it seemed this little storm snuck up on me:

Hope you guys enjoyed the awesomepops stormy weather and my always lovely commentary!

Day 7

Apr. 20th, 2009 12:09 am
dannysgirlsg1: (Jack Danny - Glasses Push Love)

Happy stuffs for today:

Spending several hours out reading Angels & Demons and enjoying the thankfully unrainy weather (it looked close to storming all day).

Chatting (phone this time) with [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1  - taco bell and crosswalks FTW!

Finding out my phone has a whole bunch of cool converters! Finding out things about a phone I've had for almost a year and half is always highly exciting/amusing to me. You should've seen/heard me when I was able to talk and txt on it at the same time! *snirk*

True genius, I tell you.

So I hd planned to post today after I'd gotten a few more things done, but then I realized I need to post sooner b/c I have a few PSAs...

PSA 1: Michael's 'Highlander' episode is on today at usual SG-1 time on Skifficans (6 PM EST). Perfect opportunity for those of us that don't have it in any form yet to tape it. I have seen it before, of course. But figured ya'll would like a heads up.

PSA 2: The ER series finale is tonight (I'm not sure many of you actually watch ER regularly) at 8 PM EST on NBC- and it's TWO HOURS long. PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE who was a prominent character on the show will be in it (from the previews, I have seen Carter, Weaver, Lewis, Hathoway, Greene, and Benton). This is a big deal for anyone who's had any interest in the show because THIS IS IT - there will be no more! I'm very excited, but know i'm probably gonna be crying the whole time....can't believe it's really ending tonight! *sniff* EDIT: The finale starts at 9 PM - at 8, they have a special on ER showing.

And now we can move onto to less PSA-y things...

The other stuff )

Alrighty, I'll stop here. There are other things I want to post about, but they can wait until later.

Last night was the first time in pretty much a year that I had sat down to watch AoT all the way through again *ducks from thrown objects* I just don't have time to watch movies like I used to, and I always have something 'NEW' to watch...but I will say I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time I watched it...I was rewinding and rewatching several scenes...

So since Thursday afternoon, it was raining pretty much nonstop until this evening... Thursday, I got caught in the Williams building (which is all the way across campus from Kellum, mind you) for two hours. I have no problems with trudging through the rain...as my Grandpa used to say, I'm not made of salt, nor sugar, nor shit...I'm not gonna melt. I just have a thing about my stuff getting wet, especially my books and notebooks...but after two hours of waiting, I decided to just get it over with. Thankfully, my stuff didn't get very wet at all. Then the rain CONTINUED yesterday - it was so bad they even announced it on the warning system across campus. I didn't make it to class, and the only time I ventured out was in a rare "dry" window to get food, and it was raining before I even got back to my dorm. And TODAY, I did NOTHING all day because it was so nasty outside and the only thing that felt "comfortable" was lounging in bed. I watched pretty much the entire first season of Top Model all day on Bravo, occasionally jumping to Disney for their 'zero to hero' marathon or ABC Family for Jumanji.

But the rain FINALLY let up around 8 this evening, and I wasn't passing up a chance to get out of this room! We went and saw 'Yes Man' at the SLC, and I was rather surprised by how good it really was. I honestly have a hard time watching Jim Carrey movies and not comparing them to Ace Ventura, but this one I really enjoyed as its own entity.

I have realized I REALLY want to get back into LOST again - I need to get caught up on it first, of course. But after catching part of an episode on Skifficans the other night (and the fact that I knew it was the S.2 opener right away is kinda scary...how could I remember something like that!?), I came tothe conclusion that it still has a huge power over me. I'm sad I fell out of it. I mean I was so HARD CORE into it the first season! Damn the movie to Louisiana - screwed with SO MANY THINGS!

Have been kinda slacking in my school work lately - so tomorrow I will be making up for it by trying to do a shit load of stuff in one day! WHOOT - Kids, this is what Procrastinaton gets you. It's why only the few and proud can call themselves Procrastination Musketeers! *HUZZAH TO MY FELLOW MUSKETEERS*

I have finally stopped trying to push up my glasses when I'm wearing my contacts...took two weeks, but I have stopped. Because you know you really feel like (and look like, I'm sure) an idiot when you go to push up something NOT there anymore! *snirk*

Alrighty, think I'm done rambling for the time being - just felt I needed to post something before tomorrow, when I'll probably be posting a lot of nothing while procrastinating some MORE from my school work! ;D

I was gonna put "I'm committing suicide!" as the subject, but I didn't think that would go over too well if you didn't realize I had watched Hook on Saturday - so I stuck with something a little more obvious. BTW, that scene in the ship with Hook and Smee - CLASSIC! I always laugh so hard - I need to make quote icons for that movie!

So just a few things I wanna touch on in this time when I SHOULD be studying some more for the EUH test (I say more b/c I've been studying pretty much all weekend at various times)...

Took the 2nd Test in ANT today - I'm not sure if I did WELL (meaning A/B area), but I knew more than I did for the last test, so the grade SHOULD be higher than a 48 this time. I REALLY need it to be since we only have 5 grades in the class, including attendance. And this is one of my core classes for my major, so I HAVE to get at least a C in the class.

Saw my grade for my GLY midterm - 61. I'm satisfied with that because the test was hard as fuck (more than half the class had a problem with it) and I wasn't even sure if I was gonna PASS it. D isn't something to brag about, but at least it's passing (JUST passing at 61!)

I DID get an A on the GEA test on Asia and Austrailia - 90 to be exact! *dances* It's helped keep me motivated and keep my spirits up with the whole studying business. I really HATE to study, but i've come to learn it's a necessity in these classes. Though for GEA, it's all about the memorization and having a good photographic memory helps with that.

And just yesterday, got my grade for the EUH paper - 48/50! I was a little iffy about it b/c it was about persecution and I had just read the book about Anne Boleyn and was feeling particularly evil towards Christian religions at the time, so I felt it got a little too preachy even though I was trying HARD to keep it objective. It paid off because he said my arguments were good and the writing was strong - the thing that brought the it down 2 points was I made a mention of something that wasn't part of the topic of the paper (I had intended to go back and take it out because I realized I couldn't focus on it, but forgot to), but thankfully never went into it.

In other, non-school related news, it's FUCKING COLD here. And i'm not saying COLD like all y'all northerners would expect when people say cold, but COLD for FLORIDA in OCTOBER. Right now, it's 54 F. Both my  Google desktop and the Weatherchannel say the high is supposed to be 60, but it's already 1:30, the sun is shining, and it's not even 55 out. I DOUBT it's gonna get up to sixty. I got up this morning, and it was 41 with a wind chill of 37. The low for tonight is 31. For Tally, this is not uncommon - but it is when it's OCTOBER. Last year, it didn't get this cold here until AFTER I got back from Connecticut (it followed me, dammit!) - that was November. Halloween time is still WARM weather for us Floridians - it better not be cold like this on Friday. Lingerie in 50 F weather is not fun (Rocky Horror is playing at the SLC, so don't think I'm wearing Lingerie as my costume - I'm gonna be a whore... literally. I'm dressing up as a Renaissance wench. XP)

And my final note is - Bangarang is the new awesome. Awesome is just so mainstream and overused, and I'm tired of having to use it for both expressions of amazingness AND of sarcasm (which is what I use it for most anyway). So I'm gonna start using Bangarang in it's place when something is amazing. It's so fun and, well, people who are part of the cult fandom for Hook will appreciate its use! XD

You know you're a child of the 90s if you can quote two or more of the rhymes from Jumanji! *snirk*

Yeah, so it's raining... the day started out pretty ominous looking, but it wasn't too bad when I left for my Ant Lab this morning. Well, as the day progressed, so did the rain. So about an hour ago, when it looked like it had finally let up, I decided to go to Mickey D's for dinner... And OF COURSE while I was there, it started raining again (i wasn't dumb - i did bring my umbrella with me just in case). And OF COURSE (again), it started POURING as I was walking back here to Kellum. There is nothing more literally chilling in the world than walking in the rain and having nothing to prevent the water from soaking all the way up your jeans to your knees. Oh, and I had flip flops on b/c I hate when my chucks get wet, so my feet were freezing.

It's times like this when I really want my Sikozu to snugglez close while watching a good rainy day movie (usually ends up being on of the SW movies, for some reason) - but alas, Sputnik is at home and I'm here. No cuddlez for me *sniff*

Finally got my Lion King DVD yesterday! I'm planning on watching that after I finish updating here. It's been so long since I've watched it, and I'm very much looking forward to it. LK is the greatest Disney movie of all time, after all!

Speaking of movies, I've seen a few in the past couple of days. Okie donkie, I've really only watched two I hadn't seen before, but that's neither here nor there. Into the Wild was the first one I watched. I got it for like $2 at Mike's DVD stand since I had a free purchase, and I've been wanting to see it since Spring semester when it showed at the SLC. It was a really good movie, but the end pissed me off! I won't give away WHY it did, but it just did! GRRR! And the other movie I saw was Body of Lies. What?? That doesn't come out until Friday you say?? Well, the SLC had an advanced screening of it, and of course I went. GREAT MOVIE!!!! Lives up to all the other amazing Ridley Scott movies (for my non-movie enthusiast flisters, he's done such awesome things as Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, and American Gangster) - but of course, true to form, it was a little long. Other than that, excellent flick - ya'll should go see it.

Both of my checking accounts are wonko - one says I have LESS than my checkbook is telling me. I know at least part of that is true b/c I lost a HT receipt and can't remember how much the purchase was. But it was off before that, and IDK where this money is going. I'm pretty good of keeping track of my receipts, and this less than what my checkbook says crap is frustrating. And then my other one is telling me my available balance is MORE than my current balance - it's almost always the OTHER way around since the available balance shows what's really there while the current balance shows what's there before a day's purchases are taken out. And it's not a small difference - it's about an $83 difference! That's A LOT of money and there isn't anything I should be getting refunded for - i've barely used that account! For the first account, I'm going by what the ATM was telling me b/c it's better to have more money than you think than less. As for the second account, I'm treating like that $83 difference isn't there. Definitely going by the CURRENT balance until I have concrete evidence that extra $83 is really there!

I'm slowly trying to get caught up on my fic serieses. So far, I've updated Chance on Love (which is now finished), Wanted, and Gone Country (which will be posted soon - probably tonight after I wanted The Lion King). Others are definitely sure to follow.

That's about it for now - I'll attempt to update again later. There IS more I want to say, but I want to get this movie watched before it's too late!

Ya know what? Frell it all! Screw that once a week crap idea...i think everyday, at any time, should be complaining day, b/c holy not cool, i have a lot to complain about today...

1. It's cold (47 degrees) and it's windy and rainy. Thankfully my roommate informed me of the nasty weather so i had my umbrella this time - but that doesn't stop the water from soaking into the bottoms of my jeans and seeping up the leg. And it's not just one pair, but two! I thought wearing my boots (these would be the hiking boots and any of the other ones) would hopefully prevent these pair i'm wearing (the second pair) from going all soaked like the first, but no...oh no. They're just as frelling wet! The boots did/are help(ing) though because my feet are still dry (they're waterproof).

2. I'm just a teency bit lost in Latin...(no, that really wasn't sarcastic...i know what's going on, but i don't. I just need to look over the information and process it all). That might have something to do with the fact that I missed that class Monday and Tuesday (both for computer/my things hating me reasons).

3. Frelling FSU bookstore (the reason I am ranting about everything else...it was th proverbial straw, i tell ya)! I go in there b/c I still need to get my PRS transmitter and another Latin dictionary. Well, they have both...and i also remembered i needed a new stapler cause i brought mine home over winter break and forgot to bring it back. ANYWHO, I didn't have my FSU card with me (it's in the jeans i wore yesterday), so i took my check book in (from the SAME account my FSU card is on) and my teche card just incase. Well, i get up to the register, start writing my check and pull out my ID (MY ID...my STATE id), and then they tell me i can't use the check without my FSU card (b/c I can't write a check for textbooks - ie, the lation dictionary). Even with my personal id, they wouldn't take it. I shouldn't NEED my FSU card...what's the frelling point of writing a check if you need the card?! So I ended up having to pay with my Teche card, and now my teche account is down to below $9. Thankfully Madre should be getting the check I sent her tomorrow (i of course sent more then was needed, just incase.). But the whole matter of the bookstore being SO DAMN ANAL is what frelling irks me to no end.

4. I have a headache...I think it's b/c I haven't had a chai tea today. I might have to go get one before my math class....

5. MATH...OMG, MATH! I hate it. Got a 50 out out 100 on my first quiz yesterday! It's not b/c I didn't know the stuff...I did...I just got the symbols mixed up at the last minute and couldn't remember which symbol stood for which (which i had been doing fine on JUST before when we were doing the practice!) GAH! But now I have my PRS transmitter, so i can get extra credit participation points with that. And not frelling brainfart on the quiz next week.

There are some good things that have happened though...

I finally got Heroes S.1 on DVD, for only $30. It's like $50 at the store, so that's very very awesome.

Ordered a DRD plushie of Amazon last night! *Dances* There is a very large possibility of the '1812' miraculously ending up on his backside when he gets here.

Also yesterday, did some major necessary clothes shopping. And also got Family Guy present Blue Harvest! (And got it before SOMEONE, even though she posted before me about having it!).

And the check (which was mentioned above) has been sent out to Madre, so she can put money in my account. A majority of this money is gonna be used to buy our tickets for CHICAGO CON! *dances again* Very, very, VERY exciting stuff. Cannot wait! Especially since i will be getting the tickets sent to me this time! (Not that the picture of them wasn't cool last time!) Ofcourse waiting 7 months is a lot worse then 2 weeks, but hey...I'm not complaining.

Practical Magic was on on HBO 2 before my myth class, so I got to watch most of that. LVOE that movie! Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witches is just awesomeness...

Okie day, I think that's it for now. Now I'm gonna head off to my PB account and load more icons....*sigh*
