So I've been meaning to do a nice little update all week - and haven't gotten around to it until now. I know there's a few things I want to touch on, but I have no idea how long this posting oomph will last (because I want to work on some fic as well)...
Hmmmm, what to start with...
I guess we can start with the reading situation. I finished Breaking Dawn last Friday evening - absolutely loved it. I know I'll definitely be reading that one again - probably even before I even consider picking up the other three books again (okie donkie, Twilight is definitely a very tempting book to re-read!). But that won't be happening until I get through all the other books I need to read (I really shouldn't have gone out and bought the Twilight Saga and read it all...i know that, but it was too good and i'm glad I did it!), and not until after I reread Lord of the Rings because it's really been too frelling long since I read those.
Currently, I am reading Anne Boleyn: A New Life of England's Tragic Queen. It's a historical account/biography on Anne. I'm very much enjoying it - the way it's written is quite good. It is a history book, but it reads a lot like a novel in some sense. Maybe it has to do with the subject matter, which is quite dramatic and outstanding in it's truth. I find it fun to read what actually happened in history and compare it to how the creators of The Tudors interpreted that information. It gets the mind going seeing how they twisted certain character's storylines - I especially love the twist with Margaret and Brandon on the show compared to the actual historical account. It's really making me want to rewatch both seasons of the Tudors even more (though I've decided I want to try and hold off on it until S.2 comes out on DVD. That happens 12/30. It'll definitely be a test of my will power!). Following this, I'm gonna read a book on Elizabeth I. Then it'll be back to my reading list still left from the summer.
So two of my shows returned this week - NCIS and ER. Of course I've been watching NCIS regularly for about 2 seasons now, and ER is pretty much a fandom I stick to in syndication. It's not a show I find easy to keep up with while it's in it's current season. But seeing as this is the LAST season of ER (which is just unbelievable), I felt I needed to watch it all. ESPECIALLY considering Carter will be back for 4 eps, and apparently Anthony Edwards is making an appearence (do NOT know how they're gonna pull THAT off!). Anywho, my thoughts on this week's eps for both:
Moving from tv to movies, there is a movie I saw on Tuesday (which is why I missed NCIS premiere) that is just mind blowing! It's called The Fall, and if you haven't seen it, you absolutely HAVE TO! I won't give away too much about (though the trailer below does tell a lot of the story), but just the visual awesomeness and the tenderness of the story itself is all breathtaking! It was filmed over a period of 4 years in 18 different countries... yeah, big scale, epic stuff. I went out and got it at Best Buy on DVD Wednesday because I loved it so much. I'll probably end up watching it again this weekend...it has become one of my favorite movies. I highly recommend it!
Here's the trailer:
I think that's about it for now... I do have a few random things I want to touch on though:
WHY does facebook have to cut me off from sending specific people flair when I find the PERFECT one to send them when flair!spamming?!?!?
Today was the first time, since the night it premiered, that I watched Unending all the way through again. Of course i've watched THAT SCENE more times then I can count, and various other parts (the most important DV parts) as well, but I hadn't sat down and consciously watched the full episode since the night SG-1 aired it's last new episode. Yeah, I cried just like that night. *sigh* Nothing will ever be as awesome as SG-1 was and still is....nothing!
I had TWO Venti Iced Chai today - *shakes head* I swear, the stuff is like CRACK - I am so addicted to it (though I think it's to make up for the fact that I didn't get any for two days b/c the Starbucks on campus was OUT of Chai)!
For everyone living under a rock, Daniel is on SGA tonight!!! I'm mucho excited - it's been a long time since I've been excited for an episode of Stargate (not since the night Unending aired, of course!) and it's fun to be bouncy like this again!
Now I think that's all!
