Alrighty, y’all…I have a new project endeavor for everyone to take part in…

Back in June, I came up with the idea to make a birthday video for the wonderful, amazing, always awesome Lexa Doig. It was a project that had to be done ‘secretly’ because Lexa follows me on Twitter and I wanted it to be a surprise (true, she wasn’t tweeting at the time, but knowing my luck I would’ve blabbed about it right out for all to see and she would’ve come on). This all came together a mere week before her birthday…and it went off rather brilliantly. I got enough people interested in the project to make a damn decent video. And it was confirmed at this past Dragon*Con by Lexa herself that the video was received and that she had loved it (it even made her teary-eyed).

Well it has been my intention, since I was working on the Lexa video, to make an equally awesome birthday video for Michael as well. I talked about it with ‘Fearless Leader’ (Lexa, for those not in the know) at D*C, and she loved the idea. So here’s things…

I want to make a Happy Birthday video for Michael. I want it to be epic. I want as many people as possible to participate. That is why I am announcing it now, THREE MONTHS before his birthday (which is December 15th, for anyone who didn’t know). The need for ‘secrecy’ is expressed, but not as much as a necessity because we all KNOW he doesn’t tweet or really use social networking sites at all.

Anywho, I am just looking for those interested in participating in this happy birthday endeavor at this point. I want (and need) to start gathering a list of all those interested or dead set on being involved.

If you wish to receive a detailed email about this project - the timeline, the rules (yes, there are rules…it can’t be helped), the down and dirty (possibly naughty? ;) ) of all of it - please send me a message (can be comment or PM) with your email address so I can send you the information.

I got a decent amount of participants for the Lexa Birthday Video within less than a week’s time. I’m hoping to get more for this project (it’ll be more work for me in the long run, but WELL WORTH IT).

 Okay, so this wacky idea popped into my head tonight. I've already gone forth and made it vaguely public on the Twitterwebz (though, ironically, my hands are tied by one of the very most awesomest things that has ever happened to me on Twitter), and have decided I'm going to open up the opportunity to my flist (and all of LJ, essentially) as well...


Next Tuesday (June 8th) is Lexa Doig's birthday. And I thought it would be really cool for her fans to compile a Happy Birthday video message montage sorta thing to send to her and show her how much she is appreciate, both through her work and just as an awesome person in general. 


If you are interested in adding your message (whether it be an actual video message, or simply a picture of yourself holding up a sign that says 'Happy Birthday Lexa') to this video/project, drop a comment here with your email (All comments will be screened). I will send you all the detailed information so you will be able to take part in the fun. 


I am making this post public in the hopes that maybe even a few of you will spread the message?? I want to give everyone the opportunity to take part in this and my word only reaches so far on its own! 


I have also made anon commenting possible for the duration of the project for anyone directed here from other sites. 


Hoping to gain a few participants from this neck of the interwebz! I know several of you are fans of Lexa and I'm really, REALLY hoping you take the time to show her she's appreciated! :)

UPDATE: I forgot to mention this last night - if you are unable to make a video or picture entry, a simple text entry (kinda like what you would for for the MSOL birthday stuff) is fine, and it will have it's own spot in the video. If you'd like to just be added to a general list of well-wishers (which will be included in the 'credits' at the end), that is also possible.

Also, in completely different news, I'm considering doing stargate_summer  (SG-1 Big Bang)...slightly crazy, but I already have a story in the works (that would be 'Choices') and my finally decided resolution for the year is to embrace my creative abilities. So this seems like a good way to keep to that. That, or I really am crazy!

So, here's things:


- FINISHED my assignment for the dv_exchange . I am VERY happy about this for a couple reasons. First is I like what I did with the assignment I received. Not that I HAVEN'T liked my past assignments, but considering how I went in expecting to do one prompt and randomly did another is...weirdly satisfactory. The second is because it's DONE, out of the way, ready to be posted when posting opens. Means I can focus on these damn holiday cards!


~ My TV died (meaning the dorm room TV, not the home TV. THAT would be epic!tragedy!). I turned it on this morning JUST to see what Gilmore Girls ep was ending (so I knew which would be on later), and it kinda spazzed out (sound wise - no picture ever came on the screen) and then just...stayed off. I tried unplugging and replugging it. Nothing. The thing is ded. D-E-D, ded. The good news is we have a spare tv at home that I can bring back after Christmas break (if Smurf can't fix it), and thankfully this TV (now dubbed 'Kawalsky' by a loyal Twitter follower) decided to kick it two days before I go home. Also, isn't nice to know i can have a pretty decent sense of humor about it:






- The one thing I REALLY wanted for X-mika (a Canucks home jersey, customized with Kesler's name)?? I'm going to be getting it AFTER all. With Madre's surgery (which is tomorrow, at 7 am...JOY! *sigh*), it didn't seem like we'd have much of a X-mika. And I know it's not about the presents...it's never BEEN about that. Still I know Madre felt bad about not getting me what I wanted (of TWO things, the other being the Farscape boxset). But, we've come into some money and Madre has informed me my jersey, whether it's in time for X-mika or not, will be the first this she gets with this money. THIS is why I love my mommy. She really is the bestest!


- Found THIS watching Under the Mistletoe Sunday evening, and I was greatly pleased:

Alrighty, I think that's it for tonight. I volunteered to polish off the last of the undisclosed beverage drink in the freezer, so the world is a bit spinny right now and brain is a bit mucked up. ;)

P.S. - With all this L4D gameplay (all Kilplix and friends at this point) I've been watching lately and seeing how tied in these guys are to specific characters, I have to wonder - What character does Shanks like to play most?? Does he have a preference (and I'm assuming he would)...it's something to ponder, I think. *shrugs*

Yeah, I won't be getting much time of that in the coming weeks...let's see here:


- I have 21 Holiday Cards I am hand making and sending out to people. I will be cutting down on some of the work by making copies of some of the pieces. There is NO WAY I can hand draw this stuff 21 different times. It's just easier to pay the money (since my printer is out of ink) to make the copies. Less stress on my sanity...since I have so many other things to rip what's left of it away.


- There's my dv_exchange assignment that needs to be finished. That, to my complete surprise and relief, is coming together with very little hassle. There have been a few problems, but nothing that couldn't be solved with a little quick thinking. My GOAL is to maybe, hopefully, perhaps have it finished before I go home next Thursday.


- When I DO go home, I'll have to help take care of Madre. She is going in for surgery Wednesday morning for a hysterectomy (this is that personal issue I mentioned a while back that I never actually elaborated on). This means *I* will be the main house-keeper-upper while I'm home for X-mika. Add on top of that the fact that I'll also be WORKING over X-mika break. I can't just go three weeks at home without working. I NEED the dineros. Oh, and as a side note, SyFail in all it's EPICLY FANTASTIC TIMING is showing MERIDIAN on Wednesday. Way to make sure I'm a worried mess that day!


- Finals are next week. The fact that I feel I'll do the best on my math exam frightens me a bit. I am so completely unprepared for the other two, though I'm hoping to rectify that problem this weekend with mucho studying (much like I did last year for my physical anthro. class). On the plus side, this means I have NO CLASSES until January. HUZZAH! Of course next semester's schedule, as y'all have already seen, is gonna be crazy. It's very unlikely I'll get to do what I want for my birthday because of it, but nothing can be done about that. Three of the classes I'll be taking are required (including that French class). *shrugs* Oh well.


Alrighty, want to crack down on this assignment. I may just be able to get it finished tonight if the proper flow and drive from the brabbits comes nicely!

My big post for tonight was going to be an update of my DVD list, but I realized just  now going back to the last post of it that I haven't updated it since April. This makes me think I need to go back and make absolutely sure I have everything for this new update. I'd hate to miss one and post the whole damn list (which is a bit of a hassle since it's getting bigger w/ each post) again.

So my big update for the night won't be happening.

In other news, the filler project for the Victor sketch is shifting/taking new form - in a good direction. The more I try and work out how to make a specific project work just right, the better the vision of it gets. Now I just have to make sure I have the right materials. My biggest concern, though, is it's not going to be appreciated like I hope (not by you guys, but by...others, let's say). After all the pondering, hassle, and frustration going into it, I just hope it will be received well. And that I can do it like I'm envisioning it.

No, haven't tested out the pool yet. Maybe tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then definitely Tuesday.

Have decided I must hunt down all my favorite kiddie movies on DVD. I got All Dogs Go to Heaven yesterday at Wally World. Watched it today and still enjoyed it as much as I ever did (and it STILL made me cry)! I was watching Balto on vacay and realized i needed that on DVD. Still hell bent on getting 'The Brave Little Toaster', and also remembered today 'We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story.' I know I can get 'Fern Gully' at Wally World. That might be my next DVD purchase there. But yeah..this is a new goal of mine. Is there something I'm missing here? (I already have Anastasia, btw).

Oh, just curious - which of my many fic series would you guys like to see me work on next? I'm not counting 'She's Everything' in this, btw. That will definitely be the next thing finished...yeah, i know I've been saying that for so long now, but I DO mean it.

Alrighty, I really wanna make sure I have all the right materials for this project.

I've been dying to watch End Game for so long now (it's irrelevant that I own it Xs 2 and could have watched whenever I wanted), so I was excited that it was today's episode. It's an all around winner if you ask me!


So I figured I'd do an ACTUAL post since it's been a little while since I last did it (last night's/early this morning's post not included, of course).


Speaking of last night's post - ended up not presenting the power point today. Of course. I did get the video finished a few hours before the class (but still, I wouldn't have had enough time to do it if I HAD gone to ANT - I spent the time I would've been in the class working on the vid). At least it's out of the way and ready to be presented, and I know if I hadn't of missed my class to work on the vid and not finished the vid, she'd have wanted me to present it today. It's how these things go.


So last night, I also mention bruising my foot. Yeah, not really sure how it happened (it was the bottom of the foot, so walking was involved). All I know is Tuesday I was wearing my black wedge boots - walked all around campus in them. I thought maybe that's what did it - just wearing the boots. But then I realized I'd worn them before all around campus, and I'd also been wearing them while traipsing all around the Audobon Zoo (you can see them in the picture with my Home Buddah), so it couldn't have been just wearing them. I guess I must have stepped wrong or something, and the results of that didn't show up until Wednesday morning. I have done stuff like that before. Kinda like when you get a bruise and don't know where it came from.


I was working on the King Arthur AU during End Game - I finally got the kick to continue - I'd been stumped on how to start the next chapter, but it finally came to me! Yay! In other fic news, I should be starting some stuff for one or more of my days for the Month of Love this weekend. I need to work on my paper, and read for the Reading Journal due on Monday, and do homework for ANT2100, but I WILL b finding the time to at least start.


I'm having problems with my DVD burner - at least with the normal program I use. I'm gonna try and use one of the others I have. I really need to get this DVD burned. It's essential for my vid-making!


And just some additional things:


 ~ Forgot Cary Grant's name earlier today. Thankfully it came to me before I talked to Madre or she would've killed me.

~ Skittles will NEVER EVER be the same again, thank you very much dvshipper !

~ Chicago Con Fund now at $83.24.
