Felt like we needed a throw back to a classic...plus it helps that I was watching the rotation today, and Jack kept making Oz references (naturally!!)



So I'm all moved in to my room at FSU. I was gonna take pics yesterday, but ever since Ted had the camera for a few days, it's been acting wonko. I can barely take a picture before it starts spazing out. *sigh* Just peachy...i get them to willingly GIVE me the digital camera and it's defective. What's Dylan always saying? "It's never easy." :P


I'm gonna try in a little bit to take a few pics. I got the camera to work to take my pic for the day (which I've got to upload, along with all the others since Thursday...if not tonight, then definitely tomorrow). It might have been a good thing that I didn't get any pics yesterday b/c some of my pics and posters aren't cooperating like I want them too. Specifically the Dumbledore's Army poster and my JP poster. *headdesk*

That's really not wise when you've got a headdache.

Yeah, on that note (and since I'm discussing it right now with taraleesg1)...I'm wondering if I have Tonsillitis. For about a month now (actually, longer now that I'm thinking about it) my throat has almost constantly been sore, I've had these killer headaches that come and go as they please, and my ears hurt a lot (which I believe is b/c of my throat acting up). I already knew that having a sore throat for a long period of time is a symptom, but I wasn't too sure about the headaches. I just looked it up (on the same handy dandy site I use for my medical research for fics!) and headaches are another symptom. It didn't say anything about the ears, but since I was young anytime I had stuff like Strep Throat, I would also get an ear infection. When the throat goes wonko, so does my ears. I also should figure in to the equation that just yesterday, I started coughing on and off out of nowhere. I'm use to it when I have a cold and my nose is all stuffy...but it felt like the schmutz in my throat yesterday just came out of nowhere. All of this stuff isn't too bad when I'm busy doing stuff, but when I'm sitting not really doing anything...when all I can really do is focus on it, I'm miserable. It would really suck if I DO have Tonsillitis, but going over all the facts, it's looking very likely.


Moving onto less depressing topics...

I couldn't help splurging today and buying FIREFLY on DVD!!! FINALLY!!! I was coming back from getting my mailbox key, and had to walk by the FSU bookstore, and just outside the store there's this dude that sells DVDs (both new and used). I was looking at his selection during Orientation...I decided to take a look today (ya'll know me and movies...NO will power!)...I really shouldn't have b/c I still need to set up my SunTrust account for my financial aid stuffs... I was originally looking for Black Hawk Down (with high hopes for the possibility of the special edition one). He didn't have that, but as I approached the DVD box sets that he had, I saw Firefly and literally squee'd right there. I was like *GASP!* Picked it up and asked him how much it was - $34. That's the cheapest I've found it for and decided that it was finally time to own it. And it's a good thing I did b/c when I picked it up and asked the guy how much it was, another girl looked up and was all like "OMG! Do you have another one of those?!" to the guy. That told me RIGHT THERE that I needed to buy it THEN! I'm all excited to watch the special feature thingos...and the episodes ofcourse. I've been wanting to watch Serenity (talking about the two part episode, not the movie *though i still want to watch that, but most likely not until after I buy the Ultimate Edition coming out tomorrow!! *SQUEE!ZY!!**) and Ariel like badly.

I'll have to wait to do that after I watch at least one disk of Highlander. I have two sitting right here next to the laptop, and another one coming in the mail tomorrow. And Madre has agreed to pay for my netflix! SCORE! And she's also gonna pay for half of the cable for my room here (it's $40, so me and my roommate Dominique are gonna split the difference) and she's buyin more units for my phone (seeing as she's using up a majority of them! :P)


taraleesg1 so kindly pointed out to me that I'm finding all the scifi people on campus. One was the girl that wanted the Firefly and I met a guy (his name is Josh) who is in LVOE with Stargate (both SG1 & SGA), as well as anything else scifi and fantasy. He was in my discussion group for the One Book/One Campus thing that I went to today. After that thing, I was just planning on heading back here with one of the RAs, but Josh was walking with us (heading to Suwanee Room, one of the eating establishments ;D) and he said he loved my chucks (yes, the ones that speak ancient! :P) and asked what they said. I generalized by saying just stuff from my favorite tv shows, and he asked which ones. I said Stargate, and he was like NO WAY! (B/C any good fan knows how hard it is to find fellow gaters where you live) He ended up buying me lunch (b/c I have yet to get a meal plan, which I will probably do AFTER i set up my SunTrust account), and we just talked about all those lovely fandoms that I'm obsessed with. It was really nice. After lunch, he was gonna head back to his dorm (which is, ofcourse, all the way on the other end of campus from mine...like I said, it's never easy), but then he decided to join me in the expedition to find the post office to get my mailbox key b/c he needed to get his too. So it was a very good day, b/c I not only made a friend BUT a SCIFI friend as well! SCORE! Oh, and he's from Ft. Lauderdale! Double SCORE! LoL.


I should go b/c I really want to get at least one disk of Highlander in before bed, BUT...HAVE to post about the Merry drama i was filled in on last night. *takes deep breath* Okie day, she called me last night. I told her I couldn't talk long b/c I'm dangerously low on units (like, it's at 9.8 ~~~~> Very scary number for me!), but she HAD to tell me what was going down literally as she was talking to me. Last night was her first night back in Orlando (guessing she went home for a little while before school started), and she was rushing her roommate's boyfriend to the hosptial b/c he was in heroin withdrawl. Apparently he had been doing crazey crazey drug shit all summer, using a drug that's a combination of oxycotton and heroin - snorting it three times a day! (WOWSERS!) He was literally rolling on the floor of the apartment screaming "I can't do this, I can't do this!" and Merry was like "Neither can I. I've got to take you to a hospital." That's all the information she gave me, than I told her I really really couldn't waste the units. But I definitely intend to call her back when i get more units, and find out all the juicy details.

PS : Me and my roomy have already started the whole 'bonding' thing. We went bowling last night! (yes, there is a bowling alley ON campus!) Played two games...I scored a 91, then a 99. The lanes actually aren't that bad. I found it very easy to find my mark...just I'm a little rusty. I haven't really 'bowled' in two years almost. Anyways, it was definitely fun.

PS(cubed): I'm gonna start cross posting this with my LJ. I think it might be good to have a second place to have this stuff stored. Of course LJ might not be the best place right now, but it's the only other journal I have (next to my myspace blog...but I think I like that one even less than my LJ!) and I really don't feel like making more.
