"I know that the night must end..."

Here's another one of those things I promised to post last week...


So last week, in the sudden urge to sketch SOMETHING, I decided I was gonna start on a piece of art that I could have Michael sign at Chicago Con (like he signed the cover for the Frelled Chronicles at NJ Con last year) because it just feels more right for me to make something myself (since i have the capability) and have him sign it rather than just buy an 8x10 and get that signed (nothing wrong with people who do it - i know not everyone has outstanding artistic capabilities - just the fact that I do, and I KNOW I do makes it more important that I weild them when important). I figured if I started it last week, it would give me PLENTY of time to get it done by August...


Well, it turns out my artsy brabbits and my gung-ho-ness took over, and I finished it in TWO DAYS (excluding Tuesday, which was put to good use working on my folklore final) - My orginial idea was to do a main picture of Daniel/Michael, and then incorporate other elements (more images, the stargate maybe...and lyrics, either from 'Shadowland' or 'Endless Night' from LKoB) - the brabbits ditched this idea right after i finished the portrait/main pic of Daniel because to my utter surprise, it turned out A LOT better than I thought it would (that doesn't mean I think it's perfect - I can see all the damn flaws in it!) The lyrics stayed, but the rest of it remains simple to put all the focus on the sketch (which of course is not colored in anyway - i'm not dumb....I'm not gonna ruin what might be my best damn sketch yet!)....

ANYWHO, without further ado, here are the pics of the sketch - FEEDBACK IS EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!

The lyrics say "I Know that the Night must end..." (hence the subject line), and are from the song 'Endless Night', which can be found HERE(Track 16).

I accidently got a little coloring on him when I was doing the blue around the edge of his face - but for anyone who's worked with soft pastels, you know how hard it can be to keep the damn stray bits of chalky stuffs from going all over and smudging - it's not too bad of a flub though, sooo....



Thoughts? Opinions? Again, FEEDBACK IS DEFINITELY APPRECIATED!

Looks pretty good, here's my critique:

His face is a bit wide. You can see his far looks bigger than his near eye. His right cheek just above the chin looks a bit awkward.

Other than that, it's a frelling good sketch. ^_^

Yeah, i just narrowed his face and tried to fix the eyes up a little, but the more i look at it and nitpick over it, the less and less i think it looks like him...so no more touching up before i frell it up permanently...

Yeah, just looking at it, I knew there HAD to be blue because for some reason, I always associate that color with Daniel (maybe it's b/c of his eyes?)... (or it might do with a corrolation to wormholes subconciously!)

My only thing is that his lips look a little pointy. You've got the furrowed brow down though. :) So you're going to have him sign it?

Actually, if you look at that promo pic, his lips look pointy...or maybe that's just me that thinks so?
