Well you're in luck - there are plans for half a dozen more SG novels to be released, and they're sure to contain some more Cam and Vala goodness! :D
I can't quite remember what Daniel's part is in Relativity - I know all of the team are involved. The Jack thing, well I don't want to give too much away, but lets just say that a part of it is about a big 'what if' that is a huge part of Jack's character, so it's not OOC or exactly in character, but totally plausible. (kinda like Daniel flipping out in Unending hehe)
Thanks for explaining the Tudors thing. I figure it was some show since I've seen a few people talking about it.
Huzzah for the comment about Daniel in Unending - sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who thought his reaction was more than warranted (even though I know I'm NOT the only one who thinks that)!
And The Tudors is a show as well - based on exactly that, the Tudors. It is amazing and addictive, and though it's not historically accurate to everything that went on, it's still FANTASTIC!
Awww, poor Daniel always being the one blamed for his outburst! It's not ENTIRELY his fault he's had relationship drama in the past and is just scared to be hurt so much again! But you can SEE and HEAR how with each horrible thing he says to her that he's trying to convince himself that what he's saying is true - he gets more animated and upset and it's clear it's his way of making himself believe he really feels that way about her. It's a defense mechanism - he's used it on Jack too!
I think of it more as Daniel ranting at himself than at Vala. She was the catalyst, but his emotional baggage had been building up for so much longer. He had to crack. Yes, he's angry at her, but also at himself.
I don't know how many metas and essays I have read on this scene, but it has to be one of the most interesting and complex in the entire series. :D
So my reasoning is yes, Daniel is a bit of a dick when he wants to be, his outburst wasn't warranted - but it had to happen.
Yeah, that's basically what I think too (maybe my last comment didn't show that enough?). Vala was the catalyst for sure, and her actions in that scene are just the right (or would it be wrong?) thing for him b/c he is such an emotional wreck that it sets him off like that. And Daniel can be one insufferable asshole when he's in a mood!
But the beauty of it is he SEES that he did go too far (though it was what VALA needed to let her guard down), yet Vala is still receptive to him afterwards. It's like her way of showing him she understands (kinda like their scene in Daniel's quarters in Ties that Bind).
That shows just how much of a GREAT scene it is in terms of their relationship b/c there are SO many ways to interpret it - the way it went down was so perfect. And it's justifying to know it was ultimately Michael and Claudia's choice because honesty, I can't imagine it going down the way it was originally intended.
It did have to happen - for their relationship to grow and mature, it had to happen!
