Fic - Happy Day

Title: Happy Day
Summary: She hoped she had succeeded in giving him a happy day.

A/N: Happy Birthday to the greatest archaeologist and man like EVAR, Daniel Jackson. :)

 

She clutched him tightly, letting him lead her in lazy circles around his darkened living room. The song falling from the speakers was soft and intoxicating, like the wine they’d both probably had a bit too much of that evening.

Vala sighed and nuzzled her nose gently against his neck, taking in his scent and his warmth.

“What are you thinking about?” Daniel mumbled into her ear, his hoarse whisper melding with the tones of the music. She could hear his amusement and mild anxiousness in his words.

She grinned. “Just wondering if you’re as happy as I am at this very moment…” Vala pulled back so she could look into half-lidded blue eyes. “It is your day to be happy and all that.”

Daniel didn’t grace her with an answer, but a kiss. It was gentle and lethargic, matching the pace of their dance with an aching perfection.

“Happy day.” Vala nodded, her eyes still closed, as Daniel pressed her forehead back against his neck when they separated.

He ran his thumb against the back of her neck lovingly, pulling her impossibly closer with the hand he’d kept at the small of her back. Yet he issued forth no acknowledgment to her words.

She placed a small kiss to his warm skin. “Happy Birthday, Daniel Jackson.” She whispered into his hear, brushing fingers over his hair.

Vala could feel Daniel smile into her hair just before he spun her around quickly. She squealed with surprise and delight, knowing he was having a happy day indeed.
