So the other night, after making the new header, I decided I really wanted to make a new wall for Lord Danny. But I didn't really get a chance until today to work on something. I decided to go with the same kinda scheme as my new header, but with a Daniel theme (and obviously a bit of tweaking with the design). This is what came of it:

Well, my friend [livejournal.com profile] weirtoo  asked me if I could make something with both Shanks AND Lexa on it like my desktop for them to sign at Dragon*Con. Still feeling in a creative mood, I agreed. And then she started getting all excited and wanted to send me all her VanCon pics of Shanks' panel so I could work with those (she was intending to send/give them to me anyways). Aaaanywho, these two pieces came out of her requests -

You can use them if you wish (not that anyone necessarily WOULD - but I already had a few people ask). There's lots of 'empty' space because they were originally intended to be autographed, but the empty space shouldn't really be a problem b/c it give you somewhere to place your icons (I so had when desktops are obstructed by icons!)

I already have more graphic requests lined up, so look out for more stuff coming out in the next few weeks.

Thinking it will because I think the humor behind it will be appreciated...

Picked up this little present for someone who's clearly expressed his opinion about the Twitterwebz. Tis a medium, so it'll probably be a little tight (not that this is a BAD thing), but it's better than XL (which is only available online) and the 2XL that was the only other one in the store.

Funny, yes??

My lovely vid entry for ChiCon '10 is FINISHED!!

If the Canucks game hadn't been on last night, and if the Canucks Superskills hadn't been today, I probably would've had it all completed sooner. But I think those breaks were a good thing because I went back to the video with fresh eyes and mind.

It's also VERY satisfying when certain parts of a vid that you've been visualizing for months finally come together in the exact way that you wanted.

Consider this brabbit satisfied!

Also, considering posting it here (flocked, of course) for feedback purposes like I did with I Want Candy to make sure it's up to par for ChiCon. If you would like me to do this, let me know. If there's not much interest, I won't bother. But if y'all wanna see, I'll show you.

You see, I've started the preliminary work on my vid entry for ChiCon this year (after last year's fail of not having enough time to work on a new one, I'm giving myself a wide berth from the deadline)...

And I realize this is all just temporary stuff added to the hard drive and once I start working on a vid, I have a tendency to want to finish it (especially when it's a vid that's REALLY been speaking to me, like this one has). So the stuff on the hard drive shouldn't be there TOO long.

Still, I can't help but feel nervous loading Lord Danny up with all this stuff. I love Shanks, of course. But not enough that I want to crash my computer because of him. That being the case, I have to sacrifice some stuff I'd like to include in the vid...the stuff that would definitely get a laugh JUST for being what it is and for being in there.

*breathes* All that's let to get is 'Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath.'

Can't stop me from being nervous, though. O.o

Now you guys know (or at least SHOULD know) how much I love archaeology...if I didn't love it so much, there probably wouldn't have been any interest in SG-1 and it definitely wouldn't be my chosen career path...

Still, I don't love it sooo much that I love studying for an archaeology exam. You think something like this would be easy and enjoyable, and yet...it's not. I think I had more fun last year cramming all that info in about primates and human behavior for the physical anthro class than I am having right now trying to get all this info for my archaeo. test.

In all honesty, it's NOT the information I'm studying...actually, I'm finding it all very fascinating (as should be expected). Especially b/c this test (which, even though it technically falls on a finals week day, it's just a regular exam - with on exception) focuses on the Americas, and Teotihuacan is one of the sites focused on. So I can make Crystal Skull/City of the Gods references which help me somewhat.

It's more ALL the information I'm being forced to remember. He gave us a study guide, which has all the usual test stuff plus two essay questions (this is that once exception I mentioned). He also informed us he's only picking ONE of the prompts, and we won't know which one it is until we take the test. So we have to study ALL the information anyways. It's pointless - an overabundance of information can be just as dangerous as having too little information. AND he wants details, such as specific names and dates. I understand this is archaeology and dates and names ARE important. Still, can we REALLY be expected to remember the dates and names from EVERY period/site we've learned in the class?? Even the prof himself can only tell us specifically when he was his notes/slides in front of him - seems a bit hypocritical to me!

*phew* Okay, that was my rant for this year's finals week. Last year, it was about 7:30 AM exams (thankfully have NONE this semester). This year, it's about the format of the tests.

~Pip

P.S. - So not sure how many know this, but last year at ChiCon, Michael apologized for being my inspiration to be an archaeologist (jokingly, of course...I think...or not! XP). Well, at the time, I laughed and it was all good fun. Now?? I ACCEPT THAT DAMN APOLOGY! XP

The Canucks are down 1, but I KNOW they can pull this off. So how convenient that ep of SG-1 was on tonight to provide the perfect subject line quote!

So here's some things:

~ Reason why I love FSU: I get opportunities to see movies on the big screen I never would see elsewhere. Last night, they showed Singin' in the Rain. OF COURSE I was there to see it (Madre would've disowned me otherwise). And wowsers, I have a new favorite movie. First time I sat down and watched the whole thing - fell in love within the first 5 minutes. Now I must own this movie.

~ I mentioned I haz Star Trek, yet I still haven't watched it. I couldn't tonight with the game on (and I already mentioned the Canucks withdrawal). Hoping I can do that tomorrow (if I don't go see New Moon...please, don't judge. I want to see it more for the hilarity than anything else. I'm the chick who LOVES Mega Snake, remember?!)...if not, I will be putting it on Remmie for the roadtrip home.

~ Was all set on a crackberry for my next phone (have a name planned for it and everything)...like dead set. Contract is up for renewal this coming week, so I'm up for a new phone. And Crackberry was my hard set choice...and then I saw an add for Alias 2. HOE-MG!! I have the first gen. Alias...Daniel II, of course. And i LOOOVE it. And this new edition is just....SO PRETTY. DAMN YOU, VERIZON. I was SO SET. Now I have phone dilemma!

~ I have been in a very sketching mood lately. Maybe it's b/c ChiCon is officially on and I can start working on the gift (something for both Michael and Lexa this time...though, in all truth, I had something for both of them this year). It will be artwork, of course. I've been tweeting a lot of the stuff I've sketched/doodled in the past few days. Check out the Tweet Post for those (including Spock eye and beginning stages of a Kirk sketch).

~ 3 DAYS until I GO HOME! HUZZAH!!!

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

FINALLY!!

Nov. 19th, 2009 04:19 pm
dannysgirlsg1: (Personal - Michael PO Chicago 09 2)
JUST ordered my tickets for Chicago...they FINALLY got them up for sale (only took 3 damn months). [livejournal.com profile] taraleesg1 noticed earlier that the ChiCon page had FINALLY been updated (with info for next year's con) and that the links were leading to the right place (even if the tickets weren't on sale yet). So we had a feeling it would be happening today sometime...

...I had JUST enough time to make it to the ATM, see if I had enough in the specific account, and get back before they went on sale.

NOW I have purchases the tickets. CHICAGO CON 2010 IS OFFICIALLY ON! XD

Oh, and I love the new 'select your seat' setup they have. Was able to see what was available...and was able to get the same seats from this past year (since I didn't have the dineros at the time to reup them). Not exactly the same...we are one seat closer to the stage, so not a bad thing at all!

*dances* I'm so happy and relieved right now!!

~Pip

P.S. - OH, and we knew Michael was the first confirmed guest, but found out today that David Hewlett will also be there! ;)

- Saw 'The Hurt Locker' tonight. EXCELLENT movie. Very much recommend it!

- Creation really is starting to piss me off. I WANT TO ORDER MY TICKETS, DAMMIT!

- Boyfriend thing is a no go. This was my personal decision, so it's not so much of a bummer.

And yeah, that's all I've got.

~ As fast as the days seem to be going by, it seems like this semester will never end! I want to go HOME! I do love being at school and really this semester, at least classes wise and living wise, isn't horrible. I just miss my mommy and my kitties and just being HOME. Get it - I want to be HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!

~ I do not approve of the judges choice for this week's cut guy on SYTYCD. I mean, there was a style there that...*sigh* And he KILLED in that solo. Way more than the guy they kept! Totally baffled and angered (And I am aware of their names - I'm just trying to keep it as spoiler free as possible b/c I don't feel like using a cut! XP ).

~ Canucks are proving their own, even with all their injured players! Last night's game was a hoot to watch. The fighting was epic, the WINNING was fantastic, Raycroft and Kesler were on fire, AND CANUCKS ENDED UP TRENDING ON THE TWITTERWEBZ! Last night, it was so fulfilling to be a 'Nucks fan! XD And in related news, I SO hope Kesler makes it on Team U.S.A for the Olympics! That would rock awesomepops and I'd have something to look forward to watching when the Olympics come up in February!

~ I am so amazed and shocked at how many people in my History class AGREE that the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was the RIGHT course of action! And how many also agree that the use of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima was the right course of action. Maybe it's just the Daniel Jackson in me (*points* hehe, my mind went to the DIRTY place there), but I think both were WRONG. O.o

~ I kinda sorta really wish it was time for ChiCon/ D*C again...but I AM excited to see what comes out of LA Con this coming weekend. *nods*

~ Was fucked over by the bank again. THANK YOU  horrible banking system of FAIL. THANK YOU!

~ Thinking it's time for a new Pony. Haven't gotten a new one since the summer...I feel the urge to get another one. The current lot is staring at me like 'Come on, we need a new addition to your plastic pony minions!' Maybe I can persuade Madre to get me another when I go HOME (yes, that place again) in THREE WEEKS. I've always been successful before...I'm sure I can swing it again! XD

Yep, think that's it for now. My tummy is talking to me - time to make some eats. :)

Just wanted to throw it out there that I am now OFFICIALLY in the history major.

Which means I was able to register for classes this morning. The spring schedule is as followed:

Monday

- WOH1023, Modern World to 1815, 10:10-11:00 AM
- ANT2138, World's Great Shipwrecks, 12:20-1:10 PM
- FRE1120, Elementary French I, 1:25-2:15 PM
- AMH2010, U.S History to 1865, 2:30-3:20 PM

Tuesday

- FRE1120

Wednesday/Friday is a repeat of Monday (with the absence of French on Fridays), and Thursday is a repeat of Tuesday.

So the two History classes I am required to take this coming semester or I'll have another hold on my registration due to major. The anthropology class is the one I was going to take this current semester, but was dropped. You know, the class I was most excited for. And French? Well, I still need my language credit and I want to try something different.

In other life news, I've decided to hold off on that personal 'thing' I said I needed to post about. It's really something I SHOULD mention before it comes up, but I can't bring myself to mention it just yet. Again, nothing TOO serious. But it involves Madre, and y'all should know me well enough to know how close I am to my mom.

Fandom wise, not much going on really. Wanna work on things, but don't really know what. Have started considering things for ChiCon next year (possible vid stuffs amongst other things). I know it's still early (and the damn tickets still aren't on sale - bastards!), but better to have a head start than to be behind (like I was this year, at least in regards to the vid). As for the holiday cards, I have seen all who have commented showing interests. Have you on my list because YES, I will be sending them all over. You guys just know how I get with replying back to comments sometimes.

And I think that's about it - wowsers, this intended short post ended up a bit long, didn't it?

~Pip

P.S. Ian McKellen is coming to campus (tomorrow, actually). I've known about this for a few weeks now...and the tickets to his show/thing/whatever are free, but limited. Didn't know TODAY was the day to pick them up, so I missed out. Yeah, I'm a bit bummed on that one.
